Warning: 6-ABP NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE (serotonin syndrome)

SSRI's can cause SS if the other substance in question is serotonin releaser. SSRI's can block the effect of 5-htxx agonists as the serotonin obviously bind to the same receptors.

AFAIK serotonin releaser = 5-ht agonist.. just worded differently. SSRI's block these from working.

SSRI's can cause SS if the other substance in question is a MAOI (Monamine oxidase inhibitor)..

as far as i am aware the big danger of ssri's is combining them with maoi's, having taken mdma and mdea with citalopram in my system i noticed that they blunted the md__ effects. anyone with any experience of mephedrone and ssri's wann chime in.

This is true. I've used MDMA and mephedrone on SSRI's and both drugs affects were definitely blunted.. I guess a good thing about the mix is that the damage that would have been caused by either drugs was also blunted ;)

agonists cause a reaction at the receptor, so a 5-htxx agonist binds to the 5-htxx receptor, it doesn't actually release serotonin, though I suppose an agonist could leave serotonin free as a result of binding to that receptor preventing the serotonin from doing so. but that's still not releasing it.

ssris block the reuptake of serotonin so in essence there would be more serotonin in the brain in some way...

dude legalising these drugs would be the most ridiculous idea ever!!! how much do u wanna bet them idiots would be like cuz watch me bang 3 of dese rdas...

haha its gonna be my frist time trying apb's soon but if theyre anything like mdma then hot, bothered etc would so defintely be expected...

"These drugs" are already legal and causing very few problems at all. Legalising all drugs (and providing proper education from a young age) is the only way to deal with the drug "problem". Prohibition causes - either directly or indirectly - pretty much all the problems associated with drug use.

I thought you got reuptake inhibitors and agonists.. they both affect SERT.

wikipedia said:
An agonist is a chemical that binds to a receptor of a cell and triggers a response by that cell. Agonists often mimic the action of a naturally occurring substance. Whereas an agonist causes an action, an antagonist blocks the action of the agonist and an inverse agonist causes an action opposite to that of the agonist.

The mechanism underlying the serotoninergic neurotoxicity of some amphetamine derivatives, such as p-chloroamphetamine (pCA) and 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), is still debated. Their main acute effect, serotonin (5-HT) release from nerve endings, involves their interaction with 5-HT transporters (SERTs), as substrates.

I believe you are confusing transporters with receptors. Serotonin itself is a 5-ht agonist because obviously it acts on 5-ht receptors. A drug can have an affinity for the receptor itself and/or an affinity for the transporter for the neurotransmitter which acts on that receptor.

Sadly, we cant legislate against stupidity.

ONE MILLION people die on our roads every year, but I dont hear many shouting for a ban on the personal automobile... But no probs, Peak Oil will take care of that, & sooner than you might think. The Saudi's dont have nearly as much as they want us to think they have!

When we've banned the car, we can start banning other things that stupid people do stupidly... sky diving, horse riding, fishing... y'know, the real dodgy stuff...

While our government happilly sells arms to damned near every country in the world (including both India AND Pakistan, even as they prepared for war with one another a few years back) & bans drugs because of the "harm" they might cause, I spit on their fucked up reasoning & take my chances with the odd chem, thanks very much!

Ah yeah ;) Silly moi.

America supplied Nazi Germany alot of things during World War 2 aswell.. Makes you wonder.

I think although the information about Serotonin sydrome is true i think the post itself is a sort of 'smear' attempt made agaisn't legal highs, listing two of the most media popular highs Benzo fury and ivory wave and a well known name in the hope a newspaper weasle catches on.

^ Benzo fury 6-APB methoxetamine MDPV ivory wave bath salts MDAI woof woof meow baaa mooo axed my nan in the face.

Lets hope that gets in the paper ;)

It's far more than a "General feeling of being unwell, unpleasant visual distortion, dysphoria, increased heart rate, tremors and or twitching, agitation and so on and so forth". So very much nastier than that. So much worse than any would believe possible unless it happens to them. Also fatal in around 25% of cases, from memory.
