I'm a woodworker. 10 yrs ago I severely injured my lower discs. For the past 4 years I've been on hydromorphone 8 six times a day as well as 30mg of morphine sul er 4x per day.
I have been cut off completely 4 days ago.
How long will the wd last.
I'm 62 yrs old and im very concerned about dieing.

Hi:). I'm going through the same as you basically and if you care to "hear" my story alls you have to do is click on my name and it will take you to my thread in which I've had amazing people give me tons of great advise.....I just wish it worked:(. I mean it's great to get advise and also great to talk about things but there's really no cure all AT ALL. You can even feel free to comment on my post and many may even answer you there. My story is different because I am also a battered woman, lost much of my family and well just tons more and my posts title is PETRIFIED AND TRULY AM BEGGING FOR HELP. Anyway I began using oxycodone given to me by a family member around 2 years ago. I then was prescribed it for a rare condition called rsd, slipped disks (mostly due to abuse), stenosis of my spine and tons more. My dose was 30 mgs per day but it just wasn't enough so my family member kept giving them to me and I built a tolerance up to about 100 plus mgs per day. I then got a new dr who stopped my dose even though I was honest after he cut me cold turkey and told him that I was taking 100 mgs a day. He then agreed upon a taper. 32 pills. My body is laughing at that so each day I blow it and take 2 or 3. Now I have next to none and I'm SO scared. My family member can't get anymore til next month and I too will be in full blown wds yet I even feel like I am now. Vomiting, shaking tremendously, sweating yet cold, racing heart (and I'm not old but have very high blood pressure)....I'm sure you know all the other ugly things that come with withdrawals (unless this is the 1st time you have)....how are you feeling now? Why were you not tapered? Alls I can say is that if you're on day 4? You're much stronger then I am. It is said that by day 5 or so many feel much better. So you're really doing a great job already. I need to know what symptoms you have though to give advise and again please feel free to read all the advise I was given on my thread. Please let me know how you are and lots of love, hope and thoughts coming your way<3

As for your question? I've been told the same from nearly all. The worst of it ends for many by day 3. The most I've heard is day 7 but then you must wonder...ok...these are withdrawals so what then do people who really have legitimate pain do??? Were you given different meds for your pain. I was given a muscle relaxer called baclofen and gabapentin (neurontin) in such a high dose that I feel drunk all the time and hate it. Some swear by it for wds though. For me my neck and back pain are just screaming for REAL pain meds. I just don't get Drs who think it's ok to just STOP a person after knowing they're hooked. Keep in mind that of all drugs (street ones which I've never used so I can't compare and prescribed ones) the only drugs that can kill you (and believe it or not this is factual and something many don't know) is alcohol and benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium...etc). Yet coming off of pain meds sure does feel like death and scares the heck out of me since you can become dehydrated or in my case I worry about what it's doing to my already high blood pressure. But again, you should be "out of the woods" very soon and I highly commend you for that cause I don't know what I'm going to do (I did go from 100 mgs down to about 20-30) but soon as I said I will be at zero and I'm petrified. Again lots of love to you and I hope you're feeling better today since each day (at least for wds but not necessarily pain) will get better. Write me back anytime:)
