Honestly? Russia.
Their military prowess terrifies and threatens the 'Murican domination through bloodshed - Communism threatened Capitalism, so those with power of the media printed anti-Communist propaganda throughout the 40's, 50's and 60's which, shockingly, resulted in a population that hated what it was told to hate at the expense of questioning anything else. Is it me or is that a shocking parallel of today? 8)
