Ok, this experience has been very beneficial for me and I wanted to share it with the rest of you seeking to kick opiates.
I, like many others, was prescribed Suboxone and after about a year of maintenance, I wanted to quit. The thought occurred that since opiates were a huge part of my life, I would need a seismic shift in environment in order to kick.
Once down South, I found that many meds that would require a Rx in the US were freely available. This was a crucial factor because it meant I was able to purchase meds that would greatly help with coming off bupe. Two of the most helpful were Tramadol (which in some pharmacies is available for a little over the cost of a redbull) and Gabapentin.
Tramadol, being a weak opiate and mild antidepressant, was especially useful for kicking bupe. It covered 70% of the WD and the Gaba took care of the rest. In the US i had no insurance, so to get ANY med prescribed, I had to pay 150 JUST to see the doc, and there was no guarantee he would give me what I needed. I was also able to get Soma OTC which helped greatly for sleep.
Hope this info helps
