want to find a good system to use for weening my tolerance down

Hi, I am new here and am learning to navigate the site. I have one long story i would like to find some info about.

I also wanted to find a good system to use for weening my tolerance down. again i am newbie and not sure where to thread these.

my other quetion was this, i hsd s doctor run a (cures) search without my consent nor being requested to do and then he shared that information with my goof doctor and ruined my relationship with him. This doctor did so without just cause to research it. i am a healthy 35 year old tih a disc bulge that is pinchngi my nerve as they told me from the mri. I never wanted to see this new doctor and did not appreciate the way he treated me.
I have since been dropped from the purdue parient assistance proram with no warning and with no insurance.
I want to know what I can do about it. I would like to save the relationship with my good old doctor at least explainng nmy thought process. I guess I am just disapointed that i did what i was supposed to the whole time. I'llprobably just have to find a new doctor but since the cures search showed somthing i want to know what to do.. am leaning toward fining a new ma& pa shop. anyway thanks for listening and okease tekk me where i shpuld post this, -John and what you thunk, have suggestions i'm all ears. thanks

I've moved your post into its own thread in Basic Drug Discussion for now, that's generally a good starting point. That safer use of opiates dosing thread was not the right place. You can always post in Homeless Threads if you are not sure where something should go. And the main forum page has a description of each forum.

So, what drug are you taking and what dose? We need to know those details to help you with a plan to reduce your dose and tolerance.

We can't tell you what to say to your doctor or help you with "doctor shopping" if that is what you are asking. A doctor or pharmacist does not need your permission to look at your history of controlled substances using the CURES/PDMP Program. I think that is a good idea to try to talk to your "good" doctor and explain.

The main rule is to make sure the dose you take is just below what makes you comfortable (if you're planning on tapering). As for ideal tolerance reduction, the way to go would be to simply take time off. But we do need to know what you take, the dose, and other pertinent details.

Thank you for your response. I dont want or need to doctor shop and i never have. I just need one doctor and one doctor alone that can help me with my medication. I have no insurance now and can't afford an operation. I will be looking into that as soon as I have health insurance. I guess I just want to know if my Cures report which I guess showed something, Idk what I have to see the report, it may have been stolen identity, idk i have to see the report. Will the bad Curse report stop me from getting my regular medication from a new doctor? My meds were 30mg tr and 15mg ir twice a day. I'm not a doctor shopper nor am I looking for an illegal way to go. I want to feel normal as I did before my back got to this point and the meds have been all that do that now.
So my question is will a bad cures report not allow any doctor to prescribe me the medication I've been taking for 2years? Or do they only check the cures report occasionally?

I do know you have a right to see your medical records if that is any help. I dont know all the details but I would try to level with my regular doctor and restore that relationship and get everything chalked up to a misunderstanding. I have a great family doctor and he has saved my ass so many times that I have kept him even though I have moved several times since Ive known him.

We can't know whether or not a specific doctor will access the info or how that will affect their prescribing choices. Sorry. I can only suggest you talk to your doctor - why do you feel your relationship with him has been ruined? Is he no longer prescribing to you?

We don't really cover legal stuff and this is something where there is no clear answer. We can't know what your report said, what conversation your 2 doctors had, or what your individual doctor thinks/does.

I do know you have a right to see your medical records if that is any help.

Not CURES (California’s PDMP, called the "Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System"), it's not considered a medical record. Individuals have NO right to access their own CURES report and doctors/pharmacists are instructed not to show it the person.

I've been told I can pick up my report. Will have to do that before I can post again I suppose.
I do want to restore my relationship with my doctors. That is what I want. I think I may be able to do this. To give more detail I wanted to reduce my tolerance and was prescribed suboxene for 2 weeks. That worked but my disc bulge is permanent. Constant pain. It is pinching a nerve.
Why would a patient not be allowed to see their report? And don't i have some rights as to the sharing of medical information? Shouldn't I be informed of a cures search to give consent of some sort? Or at least informed or exactly what the problem was?
I made communication clear when I went back to my regular physician with my pain clinic. I did not think they would deny me changing doctors and was surprised when they did.
I had a problem with my pain management doctor because I was treated as an addict or junkie when I wanted help to reduce my tolerance with subs. I think my tolerance was why my dosage went up. I also found out without my meds I was experiencing side effects of withdrawals that i was not alright with having. I don't want to take my meds to not be sick I want to take them for my pain.

I am going to write my doctor a letter explaining and hope he'll have me back or grant me approval to get my script from my general physician who is much more affordable.
The subs dr who was different from my pain clinic dr has caused this. I only saw him once, he asked very few questions all of which were from the view point that I was an addict, "does substance abuse run in my family?" "Have I sold my medication". No questions about me and my situation. I did not appreciate that. That is another reason I don't want to return there and would rather have my regular dr handle my prescriptions because they have been the same for a year at least.
After 2 years of working with my doctor I also felt like he also treated me like a stereotype guy who just wants drugs. That is not the case.
I am new to this. Have never had a problem before and I thought my doctor would have more suggestions for me other than treat me like a stranger that has been scamming him and acting as though he wants nothing to do with me when I went to him when I felt the side effects as I thought was always adviced to do.
Now I have problems and have been grouped with the addicts unjustly so after confessing of my side effects. I do not think it is right.
I have never been in rehab, have no dui's, no criminal record and expected more from my pain doctor than nothing and go.

I don't think your doctor can tell you you are not allowed to see another doctor. I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. Like a doctor could say he doesn't want to treat you if you do that, or your insurance may not cover something, or a clinic may not want you to switch to a different doctor at the same clinic, but a doctor can't just forbid you from seeing any other doctors period.

Doctors, pharmacists and law enforcement do not need your permission to access your CURES patient activity report. That is kind of the point of it. If a particular doctor accesses it, how they interpret it and what a doctor does with that info regarding decisions about your treatment is up to them.

As I said, we don't normally cover legal info, but the info about CURES is readily available online (and I want you to know I'm not just making shit up ) so I'll make a bit of an exception for now but please note that another mod might decide to close this. Here's some info about CURES:

What information may be obtained from CURES?
CURES contains the patient name, date of birth, drug name, drug form, strength, quantity, pharmacy name, pharmacy number and the prescribing physician information.

Pre-registered prescribers and dispensers may obtain Patient Activity Reports directly on-line.

What do I [the practitioner] do if a patient expresses concern regarding the information obtained from CURES?
Do not provide a copy of the Patient Activity Report to the patient. [They used to say to refer the patient to the DOJ phone number but they no longer accept phone calls or emails].

Pharmacies and dispensing practitioners are required to report Schedule II-IV controlled substance prescription dispensing information on a weekly basis.

All that is needed to generate a Patient Activity Report is the patient’s name and date of birth. The PAR contains information on up to the last 12 months of Schedule II-IV controlled substances dispensed from California pharmacies.

If you may be an addict or have been an addict (or the doctor just thinks that) that does not prohibit a doctor from prescribing you controlled substances for pain in California, however many doctors are very hesitant to do so (see the Medical Board of California Guidelines for Prescribing Controlled Substances for Pain).

If you sign a pain contract you are not allowed to see another doctor about pain or you will be dropped. You can switch and thats basically your new doc calling your old one. I have never heard of CURES as I am not from that area. I wonder if other states have similar programs. Im guessing its some sort of program to keep doctors in the loop about patients and their narcotic prescriptions. That is quite interesting that people cannot acess that. I have been told I could acess all my medical records and have even done so. But I do not believe my state has that. HIPPA really prevents doctors from even talking to one another without your express written consent in my state. For example you could OD and your pain doctor could not be notified unless you gave them consent.
