Waking up - how do you feel?

Depends on what I did the night before, that's mainly it

Exactly. Any type of drug intake, and I struggle like a m.f. to get going. If I'm getting in bed at a decent hour regularly, I guess I'm a little cranky in the morning, but that's about it. I would consider myself definitely NOT a morning person. It's also about habit. People that get up every day at 5am every morning feel weird sleeping in until 9. My dad is pretty caffeine dependent, and used to waking up at 5am with a shitload of coffee. If he sleeps in at all, he wakes up with a huge headache because his body is used to getting the caffeine at around 5. We're all just creatures of habit, that's all.

i've always loved mornings. everything is so serene, a new day has emotion to it when you're up around 5 or 6 in the morning and the sun is still breaking over the horizon

Amen to that. Pre-dawn/dawn is the best part of the day, especially in spring/fall. When the weather is at its peak(speaking from Texas point of view here) and it just feels so crisp and nice out. Honestly, some of my friends have never experienced it!!(by choice, school was early but that dosen't count;) )

I wake up with extreme pain and stiffness in my joints and a sensitivity to temperature. I am groggy for awhile but it goes away. The joint thing has only started since I kicked methadone 8 months ago.

i feel super foggy, muscles stiff (get your mind outta the gutter), and in pain....

i wake up, get down the stairs, take a pain pill....make coffee....drink it....feel better....

i think you must find your own routine to feeling better in the morning....some say that exercise during the day is key to a good nights rest which makes for a more refreshed and wakeful morning.....

I have been sleeping really good and waking up really good lately. I think its because of the new bed I just got. It is really awesome.

For waking up early I have only one solid piece of advice:

GHB.

Drink a large dose of it - about 3,5 ml or so, and start reading a book while in bed. You'll feel amazing for just a few minutes and then doze off. When you wake up 4 hours later, take another dose. I promise you'll never wake up that refreshed again in your life.

Only save this for urgent occasions (such as big tests tomorrow or the first day of school - or after stimulant use) because you'll grow tolerant to its sleep-inducing effects quickly.

i don't think many of us have access to ghb.....will a doctor actually script it nowadays? seems like it has been misused so much that most docs would refuse a script....

^^wow, valium is about the last thing I want in the morning! beer on the other hand..

GHB does provide a dopamine rebound, you'll wake up after it wears off with a lot of energy. But, you'll attenuate very quickly to this effect and it will stop after awhile, leaving you with a nasty GHB addiction and more sleep problems. :\

I've always had a tough time in the morning.

Don't know why, we just don't get along. I never feel "great" when I wake up.

i wake up with a bad taste in my mouth unless ive brushed my teeth really well the previous night, and if i smoke a joint before bed i usually am too lazy to brush well
generally im pretty bad at waking up quickly/early

I usually wake up between 8:30 to 9:00... I feel pretty good, sometimes groggy though. But I've always been an early riser/morning person.

Currently I'm looking for a job so my days are pretty boring.

I jump right out of bed. I have no problem waking up whatsoever. No matter what I did the night before, or how little sleep I've had. I've always been like that.

^ wow I cannot describe how envious I am of you!

As someone mentioned earlier, I think it is key to have activities planned for the day that require you waking up. Something that you want to do. I've slept right through a morning shift at work, blazing alarm clock and all. Other days if theres a program on early in the morning that I want to catch I can jump right up without an alarm clock and be awake.

Also being active during the day helps. Make your body crave some damn rest!

Again as someone stated earlier, a HUGE key to this puzzle is the time you rest at. I heard from 10pm to 2am your body heals itself, it has something to do with arcadian rhythms (I believe i spelled that right, look it up on wikipedia if you have time its quite interesting). I remember I had a teacher in high school that told me her and some other teachers did some thing where they slept 5 minutes less each night, and now they sleep from 10pm to 2am and feel better than they ever have.

Ok for me its all about drugs, but most of the time recently,
I wake up with very stiff lower back, pounding head, dehydration (dry mouth), cold-sweat...

As soon as im up, I grab a bowl of cereal and wait to smoke a fat bowl out of a bubbler before pouring the milk in. After a couple bowls of both, I put an 8mg tab of suboxone under my tounge, and depending on the day 1 to 2 1/2 20mg adderalls.

Usually the adderall is the biggest factor in how well im doing in the morning, but normally I am very much a morning person, its sad that drug usage has changed my mood a little, but recently i've been doing more supplementing and exersize to help fight side-effects.
