Ok this is for serious benefits thread. Not to tell me how buzzed you got. My doctor has come with so many complaining that they can't get Adderall that he's switching over everyone to Vyvanse.

To me he's given me the highest dose. And he will give something in conjunction with it if it isn't even enough.

So what's yalls experience VS Adderall IR. The way He was talking Adderall will become completely obsolete. How much of that is true I don't know.
 
Vyvanse works well for its intended purpose. I was rx'd 70mg/day plus an evening 20mg ir Addy for years.
 
Sweet he said He's giving the highest amount 70mg. He Saud if I need something for the evening he will prescribe something that is a newer drug but I forgot its name. Addys will probably become obsolete. Like I never hear of anyone getting dexadrine anymore.

I was on 50mg. It is very mild. No jitters. You literally CANNOT get high unless you take multiple doses, and inhibit metabolism with gf juice. However, you will be high for a looong time.

Vyvanse is a combination of the amino acid l-lysine and dextro-amphetamine. You cannot cleave the amino acid off of the amphetamine with anything but the enzyme in human blood. I guess if you actually empty the capsules, crush them up into a powder, cut yourself and bleed into a cup and then mix it into the blood, let it sit for a while and then drink that-- you could get a big dose of amphetamine.

The difference is it's not mixed salts. It's just straight dexedrine.
 
Anyone else have any positive reviews? Not abuse but overall how it made your life. I like Adderall but my doc said that it's nearly going to be impossible to get. So he's switching me over.
 
I was prescribed both dexamphetamine as well as Vyvanse, I prefer the pure d-amph but Vyvanse is good as well for ADHD.
 
So it's worth the trade off? Adderall 4 Vyvanse. Cuz I was telling him how well I've been doing like the best in my 14 yrs of treatment. He was like we have a real problem tho. I was like oh no! He said almost all my patients can't get adderall and said that he will prescribe Vyvanse. He said you only take it once a day. I'm giving you 70 mgs the highest dose. And I'll ad what I think he said Ritalin LA if you need it in the evening.



It's kinda like how dexadrine was popular in the early 2000's but now they will not even touch that IR version cuz there are better options with less abuse potential. In 04 I ate like 20 a day. I enjoyed them but looking back I really wished I had just heeded the signs that I needed professional help not self medicate.

My doc is still writing Adderall (to multiple patients) but he drug tests us & is careful. I was on Vivance first & I didn’t like it. I mean I felt like I took a water pill. Maybe it wasn’t enough, I’m also taking methadone (prescribed at a clinic 70mg). When I complained he gave me regular adderall & I’d probably still be on it if not for the bitch Dr at my clinic. Also he wrote it as needed so I was “allowed” to not take it on an off day if I wanted to sleep all day so sometimes it showed up in my drug screens at my clinic & sometimes it didn’t. The bitch doctor at the time told me I was illicit so I gave up on it. Not worth losing my takehomes for.

However he’s probably trying to get you guys prepared. And I’d take the Vivance as a win. At least he’s not pushing all of these non-stimulant ADHD meds that are rapidly appearing more & more. There’s a HUUUUGE meth problem & it’s like ppl shifted from opiate abuse to meth. I mean it looks that way. I try to stick with my methadone but after 10 years being a square (aka doing well in treatment) & working my ass off, I decided to take a lil vacation from sobriety. Yup, full on relapse… That’s when I realized the shit was EVERYWHERE. I know many clinic patients do it because they simply miss getting high, period. (Like I did after so long of being perfect). Many are hooked & it’s sad but at least it’s not dangerous to mix w/methadone. It just decreases the effect
. That’s another thing I didn’t like about adderall- when I took the 2 pills/day he prescribed, my methadone was like water. I wasn’t in full withdrawal BUT, I didn’t feel my dose at all & that pissed me off. Doctors are getting scared. If you aren’t getting the medicinal advantages from taking any stimulant (the controlled release specifically), you may want to see a new doc. I know you’ll need to me weened off of Vivance to take non stimulant meds. If I were you & you know what works best, it may be worth looking for another doc. Just be honest & they will usually be straight w/you. You’ll have to say you tried Vivance of course. Honestly, my mom takes generic dextroamphetine/amphetamine SR but it’s not adderall, it’s not amphetamine salt. Anyway she likes it & she cleans houses as a side hussle & stays wound. Hope this helps. I’d ask about dextroamphetine/amphetamine SR (which is not Vivance) since you have 2 stimulants in that drug. No idea the brand name. I’ve studied her bottle & researched & all I get is the generic chemical name. Maybe it’s an older one. My buddy that likes meth likes her pills. I can tell ya that much.

What do you mean he's preparing us. Like I said he's spooked he said I'm a type 2 diabetic and I'm scared that I won't get what I need. I think that Adderall isn't in high demand. I think it's the pharmacies that don't want to deal w addicts so they lie.



Also I told him I made many mistakes I have many regrets. All I want to do is be OK and be a pastor. Him just saying g vyvanse encouraged me that he's not backing down. I pray I don't lose him. He's been the best doctor I've ever had. He has 50 yrs experience. He knows what works and what doesn't. He even helped invent Zoloft. As long as your straight and watching out 4 him too. Then ur ok. A lot of patients take advantage of doctors. Yes I did drugs in the past but I want a simple high quality life. I'm tired of being in mental anguish all the time. I didn't know how bad my ADD was until I got on Adderall. It's like it washes all the White static away and I can focus. The IR, just doesn't last long enough. Plus it's not a methadone clinic. I wouldn't get anything if I was going to one of those.

I meant no ill will bring by that statement. Since he said Adderall will be obsolete but he’s letting his patients take Vivance, it makes some sense that he may not be very comfortable prescribing stimulants for ADHD, ADD, or even the off label OCD at times. I hope that Vivance works well for you & that your doctor doesn’t stop writing. If you are very concerned (to where your understandably anxious about it), you could contact some doctors to ask if they will prescribe what you are used to since you know it works. ** However, I have had my doctor for about 19 years now & I wouldn’t give him up for anything, so believe me, I understand. I can’t do the adderall anymore or Vivance because of my blood pressure, but I was going to my methadone clinic at the time too. I am still going as it helps my pain & I can’t handle pain pills (obviously). My doctor writes my meds for everything, mental health as well including my xanax. My clinic is rare in that they will help addicts with “co-occurring” disorders as they put it which just means they’ll do coordination of care so people like myself & many others can get other controlled meds. It is a bummer that some drug abuse (guilty!!) is causing doctors to be afraid to write medicine. My mom has been on Lortab 7.5 for about 40yrs for multiple reasons, unfortunately (Norco 10s now) & she gets asked every time she fills them why she is prescribed or needs them by the damn pharmacist!! She takes a paper print out of the surgeries she’s had & multiple diagnosis & when she pulls that out & starts going through it - they say “Thank you, that’s plenty” & just have an attitude so I go pick them up for her as often as I can. Am I.D. is all they ask me for so I don’t get why patients are getting mistreated when the study of medicine exists for us to have more productive lives (and pay big pharma). I’m sorry if my tone didn’t come across correctly.

I was just thinking he was going to shut me out. That would break my heart. I can't handle being sick again. I know I will end my misery. Yet I'm looking out 4 Him too. He's such a smart and wonderful doc. He's up there in
age. 79. He was prescribing benzos when they first came out. He personally after I said maybe we can do the kpin prn. He said originally benzos where meant to take forever. I never LOSE MY EFFECTS FROM IT CUZ I TAKE less then prescribed. The Lyrica is a wonderful medicine that goes well w my chemistry.

Am I wrong I'm pretty sure dextroamphetamine is generic Adderall right? Which is also amphetamine salts, correct? I took 3x 30mg IR/day for 10 years until recently switching to Vyvanse due to the great adderall shortage but can't remember what the bottles said... I know where I'm at in PA there's no pharmacies that have any adderall- name brand or generic. Something to do with the manufacturer not producing enough is the story the pharmacies are selling.

Adderall is mixed salts levoamphetamine and dextroamphetamine, dexedrine is just straight dextroamphetamine. Vyvanse is dextroamphetamine+ the amino acid, it's basically a prodrug for dextroamphetamine. So more akin to an XR Dexedrine.

I had good experience with Vyvanse, less anxiety and side effects than Adderall for me.
 
In all honesty, I prefer vyvanse and ver adderral. And I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I find it more recreational than my days with adderral ir. I know I know it’s a pro drug and takes longer to convert and all that, but it’s something about its delivery for me that makes me feel it more than an equivalent dose of adderral ir.

Doesn’t make sense on paper but that’s my subjective experience.
