I am prescribed Vyvanse 50 mg for add. I had previosly tried 30mg and 40mg but they wore off to quickly. It has worked well for me as far as staying focused, on task, etc. But Half the time I'm on it I feel like I'm almost in complete panic. Half the time. I also am prescribed clonazepam 5mg since I had anxiety issues before being diagnosed with add at the age of 31.

It was a good combo at first, but the panic as overtaken it since. I turned to beer to function as well as reduce the anxiety. Now I'm in a path I will most certainly meet my demise with if I can't get this figured out. Vyvanse, clonazepam, beer, not a good thing to do everyday.

However, without Vyvanse, I am worthless. I cannot get motivated to do anything, even if I have a paper due tomorrow, or even grass that needs badly mowing. So what can I do? Get nothing done, or live in dread and panic and get things done, but not enjoy life. Plus this daily cocktail is obviously not only dangerous but unaffordable long term.

I'd like to add that I stopped smoking cigarettes years ago, but recently have been back at it and am terrified of becoming addicted again. Any advise would help. Thanks.

Switch medicines ? Perhaps methylphenidate.

Yeah. I am beginning to wonder if it's a good long term idea. I am looking into possibly learning transcendental meditation, and other relaxation techniques that many have said calmed their minds.
I will also consider switching meds, the main thing is Vyanse is free to me (a program I qualify for) IDK how much other meds cost.

You could just do your stuff. You don't because you don't want to, I'm the same way and won't do anything unless I truly want to. And I usually don't. And I can blame it on anything and adderall does work for me and shit but you can do shit on your own...

Regular amphetamine use can fuck with your motivation; stop taking it for a while, relax, and take baby steps. Do one thing at a time.

Lots of people go through life without using amphetamines.

Bupropion's helped a bit with my ADD and hasn't caused my anxiety to get worse. Guanfacine ain't too bad either.

If you need it, and you truly function better with it, take it. A doctor prescribed it to you and while LONG term use of amphetamines is bad, if you use it here and there, you'll be ok. Just remember to take breaks or a "holiday" if you start using-- it's good for your body and helps keep the tolerance lower
