hey all, i've been taking vyvanse for about 5 days now. I don't have a prescription, I've aquired some 50mg pills through my own means.
I have experience with dexedrine as well, went through a period of abuse last year. It's extremely hard for me to control my use with these drugs.

It was good at first (2-3days), I felt happy, confident, I could talk to people, get things done. The comedown is not good though, it wasn't like dexedrine where I had some mood swings throughout the day, but it was never to this extent. Now I don't even get any good effects from vyvanse.

I feel fatigued even a couple hours after taking it, I tried eating more, it helped after I had barely eaten for 3 days. But doesn't make a difference now. Yesterday I took about 50mg (I've been averaging 50mg a day, not all at once, I usually parachute about 20-30mg at intervals) and it didn't help me at school one bit. It's like im doing what I need to do but none of the information is staying in my head. I'm going through the motions but im extremely concentrated on my own thoughts instead of what I'm doing. Sometimes I'm processing information much too fast and my eyes are moving across a paper very fast but im not really looking at what im reading.

I'm failing my tests even though im studying. I get anxious and occasionally go on a verge of a panic attack when on it.

Are these side effects normal? I didn't feel like this on dexedrine. (Although I'm on accutane right now, and I'm thinking this could be contributing...) I have been feeling extremely depressed these past two days.

I dosed 30mg vyvanse about 1.5 hours ago and don't feel too different. It generally affects me quite fast.
I have also been taking .25mg of xanax to fall asleep, I am extremely sensitive to drugs (xanax can make me very euphoric)

Another question I have: do doctors ever prescribe ADHD drugs for people without ADHD?
Being on Accutane has made my mind feel extremely foggy, and I cannot concentrate one bit. This is why I went out of my way to purchase vyvanse. I don't see myself passing any of my courses without some help and I still have to be on Accutane for another 2 months. I don't want a long term stimulant prescription, just until the end of the school year.

If I explained my situation to my GP, would he consider something like dexedrine?

thank you for reading :)

I obtained a prescription for Adderall by doing this very thing, although, I believe that is relatively uncommon. The reason you prefer Dexedrine to Vyvanse is because Vyvanse is specially formulated with a protein that body must "strip off" to become Dextroamphetamine over a long period of time. Have you tried Magnesium (known to lower tolerance) or a dopamine supplement (main area effect of most stimulants)?

Also, I am currently prescribed Vyvanse and I simply don't take it or any amphetamines for that matter, they help your focus, but they definitely don't increase memory retention. If anything helped me with my studies, it would be Piracetam or Aniracetam, but those are a whole different class of drugs.

It's doing far more then you think. Stop habitually taking it every day, then see how hard it is to get through your day. And why parachute the vyvanse? Thats near pointless.

50mg vyvanse is far too much. Trust me. Just because your not getting that "omg this feeling is awesome I can dial in on anything" feeling, does not mean it isn't working. You want a prescription for this stuff, but your abusing it to get high if your saying you can't feel it after dosing 5 days in a row. It's great if it happens to help you focus, but you ARE abusing it.

Stop taking amphetamines for atleast 2 weeks, then take 10-20mg of vyvanse when you need to and watch how much it will help. Less is more, I thought the same thing when I thought 30MG adderall XR's weren't doing anything anymore. Then I was stuck with 10mg and I was surprised how much I was able to make out of it.

When taking amphetamines and you run out, all you can think about is how much you need them. This is how you feel, correct? They fuck with your head, they always did for me. It took a 4-5 day break minimum to get me thinking straight again. However, nobody could convince me that while on amphetamines.

@whippa craka
I parachute vyvanse because I can't take 50mg at once...so I put like 20-30mg into a tissue and swallow. I dislike the taste of it lol.
You're very right though, I know that less is more with this drug but it's so easy for me to abuse when I have the pills sitting in my pocket.

@RoundBottomFlask
Do you mean you were on accutane and got an adderall prescription because of the side effects?
I agree though, it's really a love hate thing with stimulants for me. The crash is so horrible, but the high is extremely helpful. Although it does mess with me after a while, I really just want to finish this semester and be done with school for now, and I don't see how I;ll pass any courses when I need so much more time to finish any tests.

The thing is I don't know if it's the accutane causing my fatigue and depression or if I'm just abusing it. I guess it can be a combination.

If anyone has experience with taking these two together I could really use some advice.
