Vyvanse Issue

Just recently switched onto 70mg of Vyvanse from 60mg of Adderall (instant release) because I was always forgetting my second dose and coming up and down when I did. Well within the fourth day I find myself nodding out after 4-5 hours, seeing double vision and eventually passing out for 3 hours like I had just taken a hand full of benzodiazepines. Whats up with this? Was the equivalent dose of my previous 60mg Adderall just much higher than the 70mg Vyvanse or is this some sort of side effect that others have or haven't experienced?

70 mg of vyvanse probably would be a lot less dex than 60mg of adderall. If you're tolerant, it's easy that you could have metabolized it all quickly, leaving you tired after such a short amount of time.

I'm on 70mg vyvanse + 30mg Adderall daily. I had to get the Adderall added on because the vyvanse would just leave me tired after a few hours, altho i've been on it for a year. I've heard this is the case for quite a few people tho.. it must have something to do with the way it's metabolized by some people

Sometimes i find drinking the powder from the capsule in water to keep me going longer, but i can't do this everyday as i end up with major insomnia

IME tolerance to vyvanse happens relatively quickly. It's effective if i take it 2-3x a week (max). If taken even two days in a row, it's half as effective the 2nd day, at the most.. For this reason i prefer adderall (ir). I can take it just about everyday & not have major tolerance issues

I'd say try a combo of stims, but that's just me..

70mg vyvanse contains approx 20.8mg d-amp

Thanks for the info. I had a suspension that the previous dose on Adderall exceeded the 70mg of Vyvanse. I'm going to switch back or see if I can have a 30mg Adderall added.

violenza666 - Not yet but I got a 30 day prescription for my Suboxone which gives me some time to look for another doctor. I got a big list from the Suboxone website so I'm going to call them in a couple days. Thanks for asking

I think Vyvanse is 50% of the dose it claims. So 70mg Vyvanse is actually only at most 35mg adderall which is way way less than the 60mg u were used to. No wonder u r tired. It's almost a 50% drop in dose. That's crazy the doc didn't adjust your dose accordingly. Maybe he thought 70mg means 70mgs of adderall. That's similar to switching from/to Ritalin. Ritalin is about half as effective as adderall. So if someone has a dose of 20mg adderall and they wanna switch to Ritalin they need to be scripted 40mg at least for it to be as effective as the adderall. IF the doctor doesn't know that they need to be educated about it. It's crazy to have half the necessary dose, it makes the med much less effective obviously.
