Sorry- Vyvanse. Forgot to ask my doc for that instead of Adderall. Damn! People say it's smoother. Why is that and is it really better?

Vyvanse is l-lysine bound to dextro-amphetamine (dexedrine.) It's basically a prodrug of dextro-amphetamine and therefore is inactive until it goes into first pass metabolism and turns into dextro-amphetamine, which then acts in the nervous system like normal dextro-amphetamine does. This pro-drug formulation of l-lysine with the dex-amphetamine reduces the abuse potential because one can not use Vyvanse intranasally (snorted) or intravenously (IV) because it must be taken orally to be effective. Also, being a prodrug and being bound to the l-lysine amino acid, it exhibits a natural 'extended/prolonged' release action compared to plain dextro-amphetamine and therefore lasts longer than plain dextro-amphetamine.

Adderall contains d,l-amphetamine and therefore has an added effect due to the l-amphetamine. l-amphetamine mainly acts on the peripheral nervous system as a sympathomimetic, thereby increasing sympathetic side-effects such as increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, vasoconstriction, nasal decongestion, etc. l-amphetamine barely has any effects in the central nervous system, but when mixed with d-amphetamine as it is in Adderall (mixed amphetamine salts) it is purported to extend the duration and make the amphetamine feel 'smoother' than plain old d-amphetamine (dexedrine) by itself. At least in theory/this is what the makers of Adderall state. Adderall is basically racemic amphetamine (dl-amphetamine) mixed with d-amphetamine, thereby making it roughly a 70-75% d-amphetamine and 20-25% l-amphetamine mixture.

Vyvanse is smoother, longer lasting and less tweaky, IMO. Honestly if I bug myself to I will work while on it, but mostly I just want to talk and talk, not do school work(but my usual doses aren't what's prescribed. But, at 60mg, I can work fairly well(the more after that the less I want to work and more I want to talk!).

For some people Vyvanse lasts like 10 hours(feeling good parts), then they don't crash(80mg dose). At 80mg I would feel good for a few hours, then not really good but not really bad for a bit, and about 5 hours after taking it I start feeling bad. Guess I'm just un lucky...

Oh yeah, amphetamine comedowns fucking suck.

I'm prescribed both. For me, vyvanse is effective for 4-5hrs then slowly fades. It takes 20min-1hr to kick in - depending if my stomach is empty or full

Adderall (IR) kicks in almost instantly. It's effective for 2-3hrs (i take 4 quarters of 30mg) - a full dose is effective for roughly double that

I find adderall smoother than vyvanse. Adderall has a more sudden crash but it doesn't burn me out & make me depressed like vyvanse. After a day on vyvanse, it takes me a while to get out of bed the next day. Adderall doesn't really mess with my mood & energy so much

Vyvanse gives me a superior ability to organize, multi-task & do physical work. Adderall helps me to analyze & focus on one task intensively

My prescribed dose is 70mg, which i've been on for 1yr+. It makes me really taciturn (non-talkative). Probably cause my mind is calmed down

Adderall makes me more social & talkative, but nothing unusual. More on the level of a neuro-typical

I can't take vyvanse daily anymore tho. It stops working after 2-3 days & makes me fall asleep

Be careful if you take too many, the trypsin will just wait to break it down and you'll end up with psychosis. Happened once to me; now i'm done with it. no fun at all.
