I took my usual dose of PPT the other night and woke up the next day on the floor next to my bed, covered in red/black vomit. Could this have been blood? I only ate pasta and porridge that day.

What did you have on your pasta, tomato ragu and black olives? If not I'd be nipping down to the doctors today. Red/black vomit definately could be blood, not worth taking any risks.

Yeah, blood thats been running through the digestive tract turns a nasty black. I'm not sure I'd worry about it though if you are tomato sauce and aren't in some sort of pain.

It was just pasta with olive oil drizzled over the top. No, I'm not in pain.

Poppy Pod Tea...So OP, you're saying there was not any red sauce/meat with the pasta, only noodles and olive oil right? If this is the case, and you didn't eat anything else beforehand that would cause this distinct color, I'd get it checked.

As fizzacyst said, blood going through the digestive system will turn black and clump. The best advice someone can give over the internet would be to go to the doctor and get it checked out.

^ Wouldn't that hurt?

Should I go to the ER, or should I wait till my next appointment with my GP?

The PPT could be masking any pain. Definitely get it checked out. Anytime blood comes out from your stomach you need to get it checked out quick.

make sure its blood man was it all dry n shit like blood would be? if it turns out to be spaghetti sauce and you go to the doc, please let us know so i can laugh my ass off.

perforated ulcers often go unnoticed and cause death its in the commercial for nsaids (arthritis meds)

Since you didn't eat anything that color man, I'd go get it checked out. I mean, you don't have to run to the ER/A&E or whatever, but call your GP at least and let them know you yacked up what might be partially digested blood. They'll set up an appointment, refer you to a specialist, or tell you to hit the ER if it sounds bad.

Blood in your vomit ends up looking like coffee grounds usually... Trust me, I know from personal experiences. So if it looked like that, yeah that's probably what it was. And if it was, I'd get yourself checked out ASAP. Good luck man.

As always: It's better to be safe, than sorry.

I ended up at the ER with bloody stools after several months of abusing opiates mixed w/ NSAIDs and APAP ( not to mention frequent binge drinking ). I had waited for a couple weeks, I didn't have any insurance at the time. When I finally decided to go I was very pale, weak, and had a strong feeling of malaise.

The ER visit was awful ( painful, uncomfortable, & costly )... but the alternative would have been much worse.
