is there anything you can do that maybe makes the shot ineffective/not last as long?

I assume you mean against it as a mu-opioid antagonist rather than to prevent alcohol cravings. You can take more of an opioid with a stronger affinity like buprenorphine if you want to be high throughout. Really though if you want to get high you just shouldn't shoot naltrexone (unless your plan is to rapid detox in order to get higher again later on which is a dubious call).

Sounds more like he is being made to take the shot and really has no desire to and is hoping he can figure out a way to beat it? Is that correct OP?

There's not really much you can do other than use high-affinity opioids and wait.

I almost had to get the shot once when Iwas in the army. I'm soo friggen happy I didn't. I've heard horror stories of vivtrol

yeah im kind of being forced to get it....
i would like to get high but also im on antidepressants.. it fucks with my brain i dont really know how to explain it but for up to a week after the shot my mood is horrible...hopeless i feel so fucking weak and down.. i feel like i cant do anything. ill feel like ill just want to cry and nothing will come out....no energy and ive been getting the shot for about half a year and there were months where i didnt get high after.

yes as a matter of fact there are many gross places. the one i live in is new jersey. my best friend( already fucked by a bs law charging him wit aggravated assualt for defending self and father from drunk adult who attacked this minor first) anyway i watched as his probation forced him to get the shot or go to jail and thus ended his heroin addiction. (well i shouldnt say addiction, the addiction was there, the use wasnt though... well except for once when i went and he wanted to see if he could get high on vivitrol a couple bap ngs in he just felt sick and threw up no high at all and puke before usual dose finished. I Want shot to clean up bad and thank the lord there is one cus idk if i could on my own this far down the rabbit hole its like cheating to be clean but no high will do it for me i wont continue to WASTE every single hard earned penny on whats ruining my life. problem is i still love using too much to finally tell doc to gimme it got subs starting 2 weeks ago havent stopped d and am afraid to ask him . cus ill get it every month for a year then try to be clean for life of opiates.. concept scares me

When your addicted to anything, the idea of being sober and living without your drug/s is alot worse then the actual reality.
Theres also a great boost in self-confidence from beating an addiction.
The real hard work is in staying clean.
