Has anybody every gotten the Vivitrol shot and the nurse missed your muscle? If so, what did you do about it? I am in a lot of pain and the site is extremely red and swollen 2 weeks after receiving the shot. I'm not sure if I can wait two days for a doc appt or shld I go to the ER?

I never got the shot even though my rehab pushed it because oral naltrexone always made me sick as shit. From what I've heard, and this is strictly anecdotal, this side effect isn't entirely uncommon. However, it's causing you undue discomfort, I would advise seeking medical help as early as possible, especially if you think it might be infected. A good indicator of an infection is if the injection site is hot to the touch. You don't want to become septic.

alhfl is right. If it feels hotter than the skin on the other side then you need to get to an ER immediately. If it's just swollen then I wouldn't worry about it - you can book a regular doctors appointment if you want, but it won't be anything life-threatening.
