• Electric Sheep (screensaver)

A screensaver which shows morphing abstract animations. It is a collaborative project where basically everyone can create animations ("sheep") and vote for or against existing sheep. The more popular sheep live longer and reproduce according to a genetic algorithm with mutation and cross-over.

• Sheep edition of Apophysis (software to create art)

Apophysis is a freeware Windows program for designing and rendering fractal flames. You can change the fractal flames easily by moving and changing triangles with your mouse. The sheep edition comes with a nice collection of presets. You can also use this to create animations for the Electric Sheep project.

• Xaos (interactive fractal zoomer)

XaoS is an interactive fractal zoomer. It allows the user to continuously zoom in or out of a fractal in a fluid, continuous motion. This capability makes XaoS great for exploring fractals, and it’s fun!
Make sure you increase the number of iterations to >1000 for increased depth.

• R4 (music visualization)

R4 is a standalone OpenGL accelerated program (created by Gordon Williams of RabidHaMsTeR.Org) which aims to produce animated 3D graphics in real-time that twist and turn with the music. The WinAmp-based precursor to R4 (R2/Extreme) is now used in many nightclubs, at parties, and has been used at many massive events such as Glastonbury (by Psyrcus Wyrd), and the Ministry of Sound New Years event (at the Millennium Dome in London).

Morphyre is an animated music-reactive visualization system with thousands of unique 3D scenes.
It's more advanced than R4 but also seems to need a lot more CPU/GFX power.
