Hello all,

I'm from the UK and will be visiting Columbia for approx 2 months at the end of May. I'm flying into Bogota and interested in doing cool stuff for a couple months. This wont be a 'staying in 5 star hotel' kind of holiday, more of a budget travelling thing. I am also a very keen scuba diving so was hoping to get the oppourtunity to do some of that while I'm out there. I'm also not averse to the od line of cocaine which I'm hoping to be able to sample on my visit.

My questions are, for people who either live there, or have spent time there, are there any 'must sees' in Columbia? Anywhere partcularly worth going to/visiting? Bear in mind I'm flying into Bogota. Also, is the diving thing a complete waste of time? I dont usually associate the country with paricularly prestigous dive sites (like the red sea for eg). Also, what are the local rules/regulations in terms of possession of small amounts of cocaine (<1g)? I'm assuming it's still totally illegal there. What would likely happen if one were to be caught with a small amount, say a gram? Is the quality sold to gringos on the street cut to shit like it is in the UK?

^ From what I've heard from my friends who are out there at the moment, that's really not necessary. According to them, they can hardly leave their guesthouse without being accousted by locals trying to sell product to gringoes who are happy to pay double to going rate.

I'm not trying to source, I've been around this site long enough to know that's not acceptable. Besides, it's columbia, how hard can it be.

Sorry but for a mod that is very unhelpful. Reading that post it does not sound in any way like he is sourcing. He is going to Columbia!!! I dont really see why he would need to be sourcing?

I have no idea about laws in Columbia, but be very careful the people selling it to you dont grass you off to the police, its very common in these sort of countries as the dealer gets your money aswell as his product back. :\

Although for buying grams would imagine it should be fairly easy, a mate of mine said they didn't seem to be getting any consistant price as its more your paying someone to get it than payng the dealer for coke if you know what i mean!
 
^uh he said that because this guy is asking about stuff to do in Colombia and is mentioning cocaine at the same time, so it can be inferred that there is a small chance the guy could have been sourcing. the mods go around and make sure there is no sourcing in threads like this where it could become that or whatever. the mods don't have to be helpful.

also, OP, its Colombia, not Columbia. common misconception.

I have always found drug tourism so disturbing personally, I hope you take note of the violence there.

enforcement/ what the drug scene is like in practice- I have no idea. Never
been.

It would be interesting to find out even though i have no plans to travel there in the forceable future. Been on a what are the scenes like around the world kick. Please share your experience. Havent seen much posted about Colombia.
