video game: Spore (Mac/PC)

Yeah I had the chance to play it... at a friends house... and overall I am disappointed in the game. It's vapid and shallow and takes no thought. I'd rather play the old version of Civ2 than this.

Hey, I called it.

When a game has been in development for 8 years and for the last 2-3 years has looked just as "finished" in terms of media you know it's going to suck.

Also, when are people going to realize that if a game doesn't have multiplayer it's a huge red flag that it's going to suck balls? Even if you hate multiplayer it's a true test of game design. When it gets left out it usually means the game isn't designed well.

^i disagree on your last point. not all games are meant to be multiplayer.

super mario galaxy is single player only (that second player controlling the infrared quirk doesn't count) and it is also the best game i've played in about 10 years.

That's why I said usually

There are of course a lot of single player games that are extremely fun but if a game doesn't have multiplayer you should be cautious. Wait for the customer reviews and such.

hey what about oblivion? I never buy games so usually i play solo games, and some of dem really rocks, oblivion is THE BEST RPG i ever played and it is only solo player...

So as some adventure old school games...

I love Super Mario Galaxy! I thought it was an excellent game and the best one I've played in years. You can't really compare it to Spore though because they're two totally different games. There's really no adventure involved in Spore.

i wasn't comparing to spore. i was responding to the blanket negative gauge on games minus multiplayer.

contribute to the galaxy thread! i've played the game completely twice over (241 stars) and i might give it a third since i got the big new tv

i got spore, but the blasted thing doesn't run on my version of osx

The creature and vehicle creators were cool. Unfortunately this game was sub par on every other level. The RTS part is really really bad, and the space age makes me want to hit someone.
