I recently bought Civ IV Gold and Colonization IV. I've played all three Civilizations and the original Colonization and loved all of them.

However, Colonization IV is not really that fun at all. Civ IV is so far good but have only been playing a week so the jury is up in the air. I know granted I've only had Colonization for a week and hope I will enjoy it.

What is everyone else thoughts on colonization?

it sucks. the entire point of the game is to win the war of independence but there are so many loop holes in the games design that make it very easy if done some ways and very hard if done other ways.

ex. if you declare insanely early they hardly send any guys and you can win in just a few turns but if you wait a long time, build up your economy and army, you can't win.

Sucked ass, twice. I played it when it was first released, and then when they re-released it as Colonization IV it just got window dressing on the original sucky version :\ The gameplay, intent, and general enjoyment of the game was still piss-poor....it just had better graphics.

I'm a long time player of Civ IV, but will admit to not playing to many of his other offerings (except Alpha Centauri which also diappointed me), but I have to say Colonization just never really had that attraction for me, and I suspect for most gameplayers.
