Time to harken my memory back to time when floppy disks were still floppy...

Oregon Trial was definitely the first thing that came to mind when i read the title...

Sim City/Sim City 2000

Monkey Island

Warcraft

Those games where the screen is an image of a room, and you click items and stuff.

Wing Commander

Prince of Persia gets a nobel place

Where in the world is Carmen Sandiago, haha almost forgot about that one..

Does anyone remember that game where you had a puzzle, and like, these objects and you had to solve the puzzle with careful and considerate placements of the objects. You had things like mirrors, lasers and I really can't remember, which is why I'm asking. Lol.

Do you mean The Incredible Machine?

i played a newer version. i remember in 4th grade, playing oregon trail on a g4 mac...

you could hunt in real time. i thought it was the coolest thing ever. all i did i was hunt and the teacher took the game away..

shooting the deer was so fuckin hilarious=D i think you could shoot bison and rabbits too

Rise of the Triad was golden.

Laser Chess maybe? I vaguely remember it.
Someone mentioned nethack. That has to be the most difficult game to finish of all time.

Anyone remember the Hugo games? Where you have to type in actions with text?

All of the old sierra and lucasarts adventure games. Roger Wilco is my hero...

Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?

I'm pretty sure anarky is definitely talking about The Incredible Machine.

Doom I and II Co-op was fucking awesome...

Roger Wilco is da bomb! In fact, any of those point-and-click adventure games float my boat...

And, although they weren't for the PC, the Sonic series rocked on the Sega Genesis (I recently got a genesis emulator for my xbox and have played nothing but Sonic 3 & Knuckles since =D)

Oh, and the Commander Keen series (all like ten of them) are simply classics.

Robocod was decent, but I wouldn't rank it up with Sonic The Hedgehog (a game that just gets better).

Sticks (addictive and really really addictive)

Bruce Lee (ah, what more can you say)

Red Storm Rising (best sub sim ever)

Mechwarrior 1 (travel the universe and destroy things with big robots)

Tapper (the only game to glorify bartenders)

Defender of the Crown (fighting nasty Normans never got any better)

Battletech (trade shares, kill robots, learn new skills and gamble, eh)

Master of Orion (taking over the universe was such damn good fun)

Half-Life 1 (how could they fuck half-life2 after such a classic game)

Baulders Gate 1 & 2 (play only when unemployed)

SCORTCHED EARTH!!! Oh christ, what I would give for a workable copy of that game....

Leisure Suit Larry games...

Kings Quest (already mentioned) rocked the house. We're in short supply of adventure games these days. :( Killarava, I played dark castle all the time, absolutly rockin game. They have begun to remake it for os X and the gameplay is pretty good if I must say so myself... Just do a search for os X dark castle, there is a demo available.

And how about SimCity2000! That game ruled.

Whoever mentioned monkey island is a genius. Those games rule, in fact I just got done playing MI1 and MI2 just last week with the new emulator SCUMM.

YES! THANK-FUCKING-YOU! =D =D =D

*Dance's in supreme bliss at relinguishing thought's of reliving Window's 3.1 gaming experiences, well, you actually had to go into DOS, which really defeated the purpose of Windows most of the time.*

Who remember's the one's where you had to roll the ball the move Mel along the path, up the stairs that you had to clear, along the rolling belt that you had to activate, through the 500 lasers that you had to deactivate then walk down that stupid path where you're eaten up by that fucking crocodile! :X

if anybody bothered to click on my link, you wouldve found the majority of the games mentioned above free to dowload

yes that means scorched earth, incredible machine, oddworld games, aladdin, gobliiins, wing commander, xcom, you name it - its there.

SCUMM is god. I only recently finished replaying Sam and Max, Day of the Tentacle, Fate of Atlantis, and Full Throttle...

...with working sound - that didn't lock up my computer the first time the speakers tried to make a noise.

Fuck you windows XP. Praise the makers of SCUMM.
