I have been off norco for 3 weeks I'm already over the withdrawal. What would happen if I took two 5/500 vicodin.

Umm...a little more information here? How long were you taking hydrocodone for? What was your tolerance like --- what kind of dosages did you need to get high/not feel wds/etc? 10mg of hydrocodone is a rather small dose, but without more information no one here can really answer your question, or help you to find an answer for it.

How long have you been using narcos before you stopped? The only thing that would concern me with you taking the vicodin is you may trigger cravings, and maybe even some withdrawal symptoms once they wore off. Also, I would assume you have an opiate tolerance, therefore 10mg hydrocodone might not do much for you at all only leaving you wanting more. If you have been making it a point to stop using opiates, it would probably be best to no use them at all.

What's your reason for wanting to take them? Are you looking to get high, or are you in pain?

Pretty sure. 96 and 1/2% sure.

Norcos are either 7.5mg or 10mg Hydrocodone right? And he wants to try 10mg Hydrocodone in Vicodin form? No problem.

Just depends on his motives - is he trying to get high or is he in pain?

Okay quick background use 400 mg cwe hydro a day habit. 7 year use for back pain. Quit last month 27 days off. Back is killing me but don't want with drawl returning. It took 140 160 to get high.

Then it seems to me taking two will only get you back on the path you once were on...cuz they won't do much aside from bring your cravings back

Congrats on 27 days clean. I'll bet those 27 days were tough.

Have you tried anything else (non-opiate) for pain? I wouldn't recommend tempting an old habit that you just barely put behind you.

Yes very tough. Truth fully I stopped using to lower my tolerance. But thinking of just stoping altogether. But the pain sucks so does the discomfort.

^As whipped alluded to, there are lots of different ways to manage pain. Were you getting medication from a doctor or illicitly? Do you have a firm diagnosis?

For sure. Yes I get my meds from my management doctor
Yeah MRI and bone density scan both confirm. L4L5 C4 and herniated disc

hmmm that's a toughie. Narcs are frequently diagnosed for spinal injuries like this. NSAIDs often can't touch pain associated with spinal injury.

If you feel you have an addiction to narcotics, have you expressed these concerns with your management doctor? He may be willing to work with you to find an alternative to addiction and still treat the pain.

Are there any plans on the horizon for surgery to correct the problem?

Have you looked into trying Lyrica for your back pain?

yes surgery is in my future. We are doing fusion. Yeah I expressed concern but he says I don't have a addictive personality. I was af also on fentanyl patches 100 mcg/hr. I told him I take any where from 10 2 15 pills at a time. We did a cat and liver was good no blotches or spots. But I always did CWE. 10/325 norco. Is what I was taking. Honestly I feel great. No cravings but the pain sucks. But differently I appreciate everyones input. Stopped me from making a bad choice.

Ouch noob88, I've got some severe back issues as well, that pesky L5-S1 disc for me, however. I don't go to pain management, since I don't want to take opiates all day everyday. NSAIDs can help quite a lot honestly, they help reduce inflammation...the thing with opiates is they block the pain, and do nothing to actually try to reduce what's actually causing pain in your body. A larger NSAID dose may offer you some relief, think like 800-1000mg ibuprofen. I've been looking around for pain alternatives, and I know others who have posted in here may have some suggestions. Post-surgery, hopefully you'll feel quite a bit better and be in less pain.

^just a side note, please be careful if you're taking 1.2 grams of ibuprofen at a time. That is quite a bit and can be hell on your GI tract.
