Vicodin not helping, inexperienced on pills

I recently underwent a dental reconstruction and got a bridge, and 4 wisdom teeth pulled. I was prescribed 25 Vicodin (Watson 10/325) with 2 refills, I'm completely new to pills I've generally opted out of receiving pills but I decided for this I would end up regretting not getting them. I took one to help with pain and after 1 hour I had received no pain relief, went ahead and took half of another and its been 30 minutes since and I've still gotten no relief. I don't feel any different from before I took them still just have a throbbing/jagged pain. I'm curious to if I were to take the other half would it effect me in the way of getting pain relief, or what general dose I should be taking to help. I've tried calling my dentists office and asking for advice but they've just told me to follow the guidelines of the prescription which I assumed is what they would tell me. So I've came here seeking advice of people who have personal experience/wisdom rather than getting regurgitated information from a nurse hotline which results in me being in no less pain. I don't fully understand what would affect the amount needed for me to get relief but if It helps I'm 6'6 280lb

Thank you in advance for any help or advice that I may receive, the pain I'm in right now sucks and anyone that could help me with this is a saint in my mind.

-Thanks
Rok

What you can do to increase vicoden's effectiveness is also use ibuprofen in between doses. It will also help with the swelling.
