Alright this isn't I just got some vicodin for the first time how much should I take questions. I have experience using vicodin, codeine and some major opiates. Now I know that 10mg of vicodin is a hell of alot better than 5 and 15 is better than 10. However I understand that unlike heroin vicodin maxes out...i.e. you can't keep getting higher.
So my question is for someone who is currently non-tolerant at about how many mgs does the effects really level off for you (and if someone responds to me just take 3 I am going to shoot him). In other words will 5 pills be about the same as four?

Keep in mind that in addition to the hydro you're going to have to digest a lot of acetaminophen. It can definitely be hard on your liver, so depending on how much you wanna take, you might want to pick up some milk thistle at a health food store. There's also an extraction method to get the hydro by itself, but you're gonna lose a bit in the process. I wouldn't take more than 5 as it is. Once you have a tolerance though you're not gonna feel a hell of a lot from vicodan.

Try taking, mg for mg N-Acetyl Cystine with the APAP. I believe that is supposed to neutralize the APAP. It's used in APAP OD's.

There is a thread in the OD Archive with acetaminophen toxicity info.
READ IT.
You are effectively at zero risk for APAP toxicity until you get to around 6g; even then depending on your weight you are probably entirely safe up until 10g.
That is at least 20 tabs of whatever.
Now, you shouldn't take this much acetaminophen daily for very long. That causes problems because of COX-1 inhibition, entirely different from the hepatotoxicity which the stuff you are suggesting is for.

Incidentally, I have never gone above 23mg of Vicodin at once. That was much more fun that 15mg for me; however, I started to feel mildly nauseous, the ONLY time I have EVER gotten nauseous from an opioid. So I don't go much above this personally, because I hate nausea.

You forgot to factor in other variables. The 6-10 gm limit is only if you are an occasional user of APAP. Chronic use can cause problems at lower levels. Also, alcoholism, or even regular drinking can lower the hepatoxic dose of APAP. Finally, and most obviously, preexisting liver conditions, such as hepatitis can dramatically lower the safe amount.

Since you currently don't have an opiate tolerance, then you have an advantage.
You make this easier since I nor anyone else has to explain the possible dangers and this and that since you are already aware and know the effects of the drug.
If you're looking to really get off, then try to get somewhere between 20-40mgs.
You'll probably be more than fine with 20 or so mg's since you don't have a tolerance, but you could probably handle up to 40mgs.
I would advise against going over 40mgs, though, because without a tolerance the itching and nausea and sweating and other negative side-effects are going to be overwhelming and ruin your high.
For whatever reason, of all the opiates I've used (I have yet to try demerol or methadone), hydrocodone gives me the most negative side-effects.
What would probably be the wisest way to go about this is to take about 20mgs (I'm saying about 20 because I don't know if you have 5, 7.5 or 10mg pills and of course the 7.5's wouldn't be measured in increments of 5). This way you won't need anymore if it's where you want to be. And if you're not completely satisfied after two hours, you can take another dose of 10-20mgs.
Also, to make my point clearer about taking more than 40mgs if you don't have a tolerance, I'll give you an example of wasting opiates on doses too high to handle. This summer I was taking 15-25mg doses of oxycodone via Endocet on weekends. I had a tolerance and needed at least 15mgs to get high. But I came upon Oxy 80's and decided to be cool and eat a whole one. I was positive it wouldn't kill me, and I was right. But it was a complete waste. I was itching and sweating so much that it completely killed my high.. I mean, completely. I entirely unenjoyed the occassion, which was horrible happening on my favorite drug, oxycodone. I got absolutely nothing out of it. And at a certain point, you're just not really going to feel much higher, instead you'r just going to be nodding out and miss it anyways.
