Vicodin and Prednisone

nothing to worry about at all... my girlfriend has asthma and uses prednisone while/after doing H sometimes. you should note that if you do have asthma, using respiratory depressants like opioids on a regular basis can exacerbate symptoms - especially if you like to chain-smoke cigs while you're high - and cause severe respiratory inflammation. if you're predisposed, the prednisone will heal this condition and act as a prophylaxis against subsequent inflammation. that said, it's not all peaches and cream, extended use of prednisone and similar drugs can cause physical dependence and weaken the immune system, but i'm sure your doctor has already discussed these issues with you. if you are just trying to use vics while on a course of prednisone you will be fine.
 
Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Funny you should mention that about asthma seeing as i do have it, and when i do opiates i have noticed it is worse for a couple days after.
My prednisone scprit is only for a week due to bad poison oak ive had for a few days now.
 
Yeah, nothing to worry about, have been prescribed prednisone along with opiates several times, if anything the vicodin might help you sleep as prednisone gives some people insomnia especially towards the end of the RX. And like alovesupreme mentioned, it does suppress the immune system so I always taken extra vitamin C while on pred as well. Good luck, poison oak is a drag
 
yah noting wrong with opiates and pregnisone, they wont interact at all. dont take pregnisone for more than 7 days because....

Adrenal suppression will begin to occur if prednisone is taken for longer than seven days. Eventually, this may cause the body to temporarily lose the ability to manufacture natural corticosteroids (especially cortisol), which results in dependence on prednisone. For this reason, prednisone should not be abruptly stopped if taken for more than seven days, instead, the dosage should be gradually reduced. This weaning process may be over a few days, if the course of prednisone was short, but may take weeks or months if the patient had been on long-term treatment. Abrupt withdrawal may lead to an Addisonian crisis. For those on chronic therapy, alternate-day dosing may preserve adrenal function and thereby reduce side-effects.[6]

This isn't Dawg's case at all-- and good luck again, hope the pred is kicking in fast-- but long term addiction to prednisone is no joke. I know someone who started using it for every ache and pain, thought it was a wonder drug and got hooked, and now after a bunch of years are an absolute mess. Their pituitary gland is gone, shriveled up and dead. Their joints hurt horribly all the time with one hip suffering from necrosis because of avascular issues, but no surgeon can even operate because they won't heal after the surgery. They're sick all the time with nasty infections cause their immune system is shot, their face and limbs are all swollen and puffy, their skin is like parchment, and they constantly get like these oozing mouth sores. She literally looks like a monster.

Sorry about the rant but this is a family member we've literally watched decay in front of our eyes despite everyone from the very beginning warning her about the dangers, long term prednisone addiction can really do a number on a person
 
Man, neither did I till saw it, the whole family has watched in disbelief, it's really sad. Plus now she's now addicted to a ton of other meds to try to deal with the prednisone damage, it's fubar. Should note, this is from like a decade of prednisone addiction so it took quite awhile to get to this point but still, creepy stuff
 
Careful, prednisone ruined my life. I was a relatively happy kid until I got poison ivy around 12. Was prescribed this god-of-bitterness pill. About a week into it I was severely, severely depressed. I was a happy kid, mind you I had panic attacks at night a lot but was never really sad. I went from a cheerful kid to not eating for weeks on end, I literally could not stop crying. After I stopped taking the pills the depression slowly lifted but I can still feel that bullshit almost a decade later. I have been well acquainted with anxiety my whole life but never even knew what depression was until this, a completely new and unique feeling. It never wore off.

Of course the doc never warned me of this because "it's pretty rare". A few years later my dads friend had the exact same experience. Totally off topic, just giving you the heads up
