[VIC] Rainbow Serpent Festival REVIEWS 2006

OhSoBec - I'll tell you who i am, if you tell me who you are.

Although i probably wouldn't have met you as i didn't spend much time at Rancho Relaxo.

This Rainbow was one of the best I have been to, but it's the first time anyone has ever stolen anything from me. Helen and I awoke Sunday to find a chair and our esky missing. :(

Yes, that was problem with camping right up the end. We lost a couple of bottles of vodka. At least you did not lose your pergola.

Jo and I were very happy to catch up with you guys again. Cheers, Dave

You did indeed meet me. I filled your hammock with mud. :p

Ahh Rainbow. It really is such an amazing experience and never fails to please.

This year was a little weird as I had to go down to Smelbourne halfway through for a 12-hour personal development and leadership program. Returned at 12.30am on Sunday morning absolutely knackered, but with my mind finetuned for possibility and eager for play.

I felt so lucky this year to bringing my daughter Rosie Star with me. She is now 21 months old and can walk and dance. Last year she wasn’t even crawling, so there was much fun to be had.

My wife Jo and Rosie went home on Friday night and returned on Monday morning. So I had a day pass from being a husband and father on Sunday. Not one to look a horse in the mouth I most certainly made the most of that day pass.

Fire show: I returned from Melbourne on Sat night very buggered. Had a wander through the market place and was lucky enough to catch the most amazing fire show I have seen. Spectacular and dramatic. Had it all.

Son Kite: So much has been said about these guys. They started playing shortly after I made my way down on Sunday morning. And as is so common with Rainbow everything seemed to gel at just the right time. Bumped into a great crew of fun friends to dance with, was given some lovely MDMA, had a few nice drinks, was surrounded by the most helpful goddesses, danced to some inspiring music … and this set me off on the right foot and brain pattern for a top day of play.

Rainbow Games: Madness as usual. 8)

Toilets: Good on Green Ant for trying to reduce our impact on the environment. The toilets were great. At time a bit smelly, but on the whole great. Although it won’t make the most organic of composts I would think. Quite a few chemical residues would have made their way in there.

Spliffs: Don’t smoke often atm, so it was nice to relax a little.

The 20-metre-responsibility-radius zone: this is the zone where beyond this a person at Rainbow has little responsibility. It is a zone that can get quite small – down to about two metres radius.

Bucket Baths: So good to find these on Sunday night when things were getting a little messy. I went to the loo at 11pm and then saw these. What a god send, especially filling up said bucket and immersing over worked brain inside for five minutes. It was a great way to slow down the mayhem. And the trees looked very trippy from there.

Rosie Star: I won’t go on too much about this wonderful little person. But boy, she is ace. Watching her meeting people and taking in all the sights was amazing. And on Monday she had a ball wandering about as a doof fairy.

Regret – I had but few.

Amazing Monkeys: I will see them one day. :(

Two bottles of vodka that went missing from our camp.

And regret number one …. A whole year to wait until we do it all again. :p

There are so, so , so many more highlights. But I had better let someone else have a go.

Cheers,

Dave

…. And bring on the 10 years of Rainbow next year. =D

OhSoBec - I remember you... You evil, evil girl!

You came, you sat in my hammock, you dirtied my hammock, then you left.

DAVE!!!!

As in Dave and Jo?

Jeeesus man, you are following me around! I'm Chris who camped next to you a four or so years ago with my girlfriend Helen, and also camped next to you this year.

Sounds like someone went through both our campsites while we slept Sunday morning. Our pergola was half pulled down, i guess the pegs were too strong for them. That really sucks huh. No hard feelings for next year though, we'll just bring our esky inside with us. See you then Dave. Hi to Jo.

oh... and i second the toilets. Very nice.

Had a chat with the guy who was in charge and also invented them. Great idea, keep it up!

We have composting toilets at our home at Rocklyn so I am very familiar with them. Love the idea of using less water and being able to use the waste for the garden. Although there would be a lot of chemical residue after all those E and acid poos.

I absolutely LOVED rainbow – it’s been over seven years that I’ve been meaning to go but for whatever reason things didn’t work. what a party, and I LOVED the people, GOD I can’t believe how great and nice the crowd was, and the amount of interesting people made it a truly memorable party.

I got introduced to some of the Rancho Relaxo kids through my bro, Rez – (OhSoBec, I ~think~ I met you briefly). Must say, love the name! “Rancho Relaxo” - It makes me smile every time I say it….

I must admit for someone who was starting to get over the whole party scene – rainbow made me loooove it all over again…

(apologies for the repetition of the word LOVE!) ;)

peace out yo!

Rancho Relaxo makes me smile too!! I think I did meet you too, but I didn't realise Rez was your brother until I read his review on oztrance. Yay. Wow I really do know more BLer's than I thought!!

And random swimming missions in the lake were great!! Sneaking into the caravan park before everyone else ruined it for us was fantastic, and then swimming at the boat ramp on Sunday afternoon, with Miss Slingshot turning up wearing a tutu was definately an eye opener for the locals!!

Man...I hate doofing...how is it i end up at so many of these.... first triptamind then rainbow....sheesh....

Feh...I had a great time... was good to run into a few familiar faces *waves ruski* ... guess i will see you all next year...
