The Rainbow Serpent Festival is one of Australia's premier outdoor alternative lifestyle, music and arts festivals. Promoting a strong ethos of unity, the festival – whose name is derived from the Dreamtime story of the Rainbow Serpent, is about connecting people from all walks of life throughout the world. At Rainbow you'll find people from all communities and demographics, joined together by a shared desire to celebrate life and to learn and experience new things.
Running for four days over Australia Day weekend in January each year, Rainbow attracts around 7,000 people from all over Australia and the world with it's unique blend of music, workshops, activities, performance art, market stalls and mouth-watering food on offer.
Festival goers can expect to see over 100 artists across a multitude of music genres, including progressive trance, electro, house, breaks, dub and ambient. Featuring some of the freshest acts from around the world alongside Australia’s finest talent. A truly magical experience the Rainbow Serpent Festival offers a chance to escape from the pressures in our day to day lives and connect with like minded people in a safe and truly awe inspiring natural environment. Set in a beautiful location under the clear blue summer sky.
The Rainbow Village area combines a range of creative activities, dance, theatre discussion, conscious sound and the latest healing modalities to provide a place for growth and personal wellbeing. In an increasingly fast and demanding world, the Rainbow Village is a place to nurture oneself, communicate ideas, find personal power and increase wellbeing. Offering a variety of multi concurrent holistic activities designed to expand the mind, awaken the spirit and heal the soul. Add to all this amazing décor, roving artistic performances and workshops on a massive range of topics your biggest difficulty over the weekend will be deciding what to do next.

Don’t have a car to get you to Rainbow Serpent Festival? Well we have the solution, and in the process you can help reduce your carbon emissions and get to and from the festival safely with no hassles.
The luxury air-conditioned bus or buses (depending on demand) will leave Melbourne 4pm Friday 22nd January and take you directly to the festival site near Beaufort. It will then depart the festival site 7pm Monday 25th returning you to Federation Square.

Neil Joseph Stephen Fraser is a dub music producer and engineer known for his original productions and remix work. He is considered one of the leading producers of dub music’s second generation and was instrumental in transitioning dub into the digital age. He is a prolific producer, contributing to or producing nearly 200 albums. He has collaborated with reggae artists such as Lee "Scratch" Perry, Sly and Robbie, Pato Banton, Jah Shaka and Horace Andy, as well as artists outside the realm of traditional reggae and dub, such as Sade, Massive Attack, The Orb, and Brazilian DJ Marcelinho da lua. We warmly welcome him as a massive addition to the Rainbow 2010 line up.
Gabriel Ananda is from Cologne, Germany. He is known for his diversity of sound in which he melds a mixture of techno, house, electro, and Dub music into his DJ sets and musical productions.
Refreshingly different from the common Techno mainstream Gabriel Ananda breaks hearing-habbits using well dosed deep structured sounds. Connoisseurs of the uncommon enjoy his straight and fiddly cool beats.
In 2006 he released the massively successfully EP "Miracel Whop" on Platzhirsch Schallplatten. This will be his first time at Rainbow Serpent and his playful psychedelic style will no doubt be a great contribution to the festival.
There are few more inspired artists working in electronic music today than Charlie May. As the architect behind many of the stylistic blueprint shifts in dance since the early heady days of acid house and as one half of revered progressive house pioneers Spooky; the engineer and producer of many of Sasha’s biggest singles and albums, May knows a thing or two about what makes a dancefloor tick.
This producer and DJ has consistently blazed a trail of innovation which has underpinned many of the most important developments in electronic music! In 2009 he has released a new double mixed cd under “spooky” on platypus records, and look out for a new solo album showcasing his sounds!s
Boris Brejcha began producing and dj-ing in November 2006 and with his first online MP3 debut Monster EP and the following EP named Yellow Kitchen, he reached number one on many download platforms, and became the new techno shooting star playing gigs not only in his home country Germany but abroad. Boris joined Harthouse Mannheim at the beginning of 2007 with the digital releases Outer Space, White Snake and others.
Boris is constantly searching for fresh & unknown elements in his sound. Now he is looking forward for his third album which will come in the beginning of 2010! We have been receiving request for a number of years to bring Boris over for Rainbow, in 2010 we are more than pleased to oblige!
Magnus Birgersson, a Swedish based electronic music composer has been involved in many projects since a teenager, playing drums, percussions, piano and keyboards for various bands before launching his own project Solar Fields in 2001 with the album Reflective Frequencies.
Magnus has always built a unique sound universe, poles apart from current trends in the genre, he explores the wide possibilities of ambient, atmospheric, deep, ecstatic, industrial yet organic, cultivating contrasts and subtlety with brio.
In November 2005 he released his third and fourth album “Leaving Home” and “Extended”, both albums received critical acclaim opening new horizons for Magnus Birgersson and his true visionary work.
