I think there'll be enough of you to warrent a full review thread, so here you go kiddies, play away.... =D

Hehehe. Well it's a strange day when johnboy is the first to review an event, isn't it? In short it was bloody good. Bloody hot, but lots of fun. I won't go into harm reduction stuff here, I'll save that for ADD and the list, but it was generally a success, even if we couldn't test.

TISM were incredible, and so wonderfully out of context. Seeing the the EC crowd enthusiastically sing along to "Ol Man river" was superb irony and generally seeing the confused looks on the faces of anyone under 30 when songs like "Death, Amway" were performed made it pure gold. FreqNasty was lots of fun as well, even tho by that stage I couldn't stand up very well, let alone dance.

A huge thanks to everyone I met and played with, for making this one of the best EC's I've ever been to. No doubt they are still recovering, as am I to tell the truth, otherwise I'd be more verbose...

what he said! TISM and FreQ Nasty rocked! Had heaps of fun, even if sat was too hot to do anything but swim! I think everybody is either still asleep or coughing up a backyard full of dust! Great EC.... already looking foward to the next one :)

Thomas P Heckmann and 1200 Mics - definite highlight of the weekend...

I loved watching Raja Ram and that other old dude.. still bust it out at 55+...

I only wish I could still be enjoying my work/life as much as they seem to be doing so..

That opening track - welcome or whatever it is.. was unbelievable! I loved the flute...

Headed home very early Sunday morning so I missed Simon's closing set.. oh well.. next time.

Dont wanna hijack the thread or anything, didn't really know where else to post this (feel free to move it), but has anyone else heard this news...?

Body found on river bank

29nov04

THE body of a man has been found on the banks of the Goulburn River in Victoria's north.

But police say they cannot confirm the identity of the man as they have been searching for two different men missing in the area.
A search was launched yesterday for 22-year-old Stephen Henshall from East Oakleigh who went missing on Saturday from the Earthcore dance music festival which was held on the banks of the Goulburn River at Undera near Shepparton.

Police said Mr Henshall was last seen by his friends at their camp at the festival, which attracted about 6000 people, at 9.30am (AEDT) on Saturday.

His friends called police yesterday morning when he still had not returned and the police helicopter was called in to join an unsuccessful search for the man.

The search resumed at 7am today.

Police have confirmed a body has been found but say they are not yet sure whether it is that of Mr Henshall or another man also missing in the area.

Police have not yet released details of the second missing man.

So sad. :(

We saw a car on it's roof on the way home... hope those people are ok too.... The surrounding police and rescue didn't look too concerned and werent in a hurry, so I'm guessing they were ok.....

I had a great weekend... I think thats all I need to say:)

It's been confirmed that the body found was Stephen Henshall who went missing from Earthcore...

River body identified
November 29, 2004

A BODY found in a river in northern Victoria was that of a man who went missing from a music festival at the weekend.

A passer-by found the body of Stephen Henshall, 22, snagged on tree branches in the Goulburn River at Undera, near Shepparton, today, police said.

Mr Henshall, of East Oakleigh in Melbourne, went missing from the Earthcore dance music festival held on the banks of the river at Undera on Saturday.

He was last seen by his friends at their camp at the festival, which attracted about 6000 people, at 9.30am (AEDT) on Saturday.

His friends called police on Sunday morning when he still had not returned and the police helicopter was called in to help search for the man.

RIP and condolences to the family. :(

*one person is still missing aparently. police said in news and paper that two people were reported missing. now they only are looking for one.

condolences to his family.

4 people were taken to hospital with overdoses...out of 6000+ thats not bad.

i had a blast.

i was highly annoyed at having to wait a whole frigging hour in the circus tent cause tism were an hour late in starting!! not only was it hot in there but it stank :\

best set i saw was GMs. was bit shocked at hour sub-standard Hallucinagen (sp?) was.... ah well...

and whats with the fire twirlers lighting up??? i spoke to an events co-ordinator and there was a designated area! talk bout double standards with that. specailly cause the grass underneathe em keep flareing up in flamnes. all it would of taken for a huge fire to rip through there was no one to stamp it out. they should if been twirling on the friggin dirt not the grass *rolls eyes*

well it was a top time. drank lots. ran into some top people.

*rubs her sunburn*

nickthecheese, hijynx, leprechaun, johnboy, twigz...was great to meet/catch up even if only breif! =D

Leprechaun: you guys were awesome!!! myself and harraser were annoyed at tism for making us leave your set to here theres only to have tem be and hour late...we vould of stayed and watched all of yours! coffee soon hun?

I think I heard some coppers talking to people about this. I think this car was stolen. Can't be very sure about it though, just what I heard as I was wandering around.

taken from the herald sun today:

Missing festival-goer found

30nov04

A MAN who went missing from a music festival in Victoria's north has been found wandering along a road, suffering from dehydration.

*edited out name*, 19, of Hawthorn, was found just before 8am (AEDT) today in Bunbartha, near Shepparton, police said. *edited name* was last seen at the Earthcore dance music festival in Undera, near Shepparton, about 4pm on Sunday.

A police spokeswoman said *edited name* was taken to Goulburn Valley Hospital for treatment for dehydration.

The body of a second man who went missing from the festival at the weekend was found yesterday.

A passer-by found the body of 22-year-old Stephen Henshall snagged on tree branches in the Goulburn River at Undera.

so all's well. they found the second boy that went missing :)

it pays to be well informed of who goes where at things like this :)

Wickid festival.

Firstly congratualtions to tom and pete for a wickid set!

Nice meeting 1234 very briefly during son kite...... wish i could have had a bigger chat but i was in full crazy little pixie mode and ran away to get muddy and dance ;)

Musical highlights were hallucinogen, eat static and son kite!

son kite cleansed me on every level and left me vibrating pure positive energy and clarity.

Vibe was well wickid..... generally very chill and the dancefloor on the main morning was great fun........ 1000 times less messy than last year. It seems all the right people stayed and the wrong ones left as the sun came up.

My twirling shows were great fun..... wasn't to happy with my first one but my two on the main night went great :) It was so fun to twirl to salmonella dub dub.

All round a wickid party, great vibes, lots of shinanigans and can't wait till the next party :)

Whooooooooooot!

LOL. yes and yes :)

i must say i did end up having an fucking awesome time. will definitely be back next year :D

highlights for me most definitely were GMS and 1200 mics. Both rock it hard :D i was really looking forward to catching Hallucigen too but unfortunately i missed about half their set and as for the half i caught hmmm, was okay, but i must say i was expecting a bit more.

still great great weekend, weather was a bit of a bitch but what can you do? my newly acquired tan is a positive though, so i'm happy ;)

and finally condolences for the guy who lost his life :(

i thought Earthcore was fantastic and worth coming out of bluelight semi-retirement to comment on!

Saturday night was one of the most faultless nights out i can remember. Started at Siaqua (awesome!), saw a bit of TISM (mayhem), then wandered for a while. Camped at Hydra from 10pm til 4am for an amazing block of top-notch music, in particular i thought GMS were fucking awesome, and younger brother was sweet too.

From 4am onwards we shifted to the main stage. 1200 Mics blew my mind! That was some brutal music, combined with Raja Ram's trippy flute goodness and the general on-stage enthusiasm... WOW!!! i needed a good rest by that stage (had been dancing pretty hard for a few hours by then - couldn't resist!), so parked at the back of main stage to listen to Eat Static (sounded awesome) and Son Kite (violin blew me away!!). Then wandered down to the river beach for a dip and chat with some friendly folk who had also all had a rocking time of it.

Overall i thought the organisation was great (apart from the sets running behind time), the stages were set up really well, the sound systems were terrific, and basically i just had an absolutely awesome time so big thanks to the earthcore crew and everyone who was there for making it a great weekend :)

hopefully the tragic event that transpired doesn't make it impossible for earthcore to happen again. that would be a tragedy in itself.

i think ive finally stopped couching up uber amounts of dust. i was happy when they drenched me with water in an aim to keep the dust and the heat on the dance floor of hydra down.

the weather was a bitch. i love warm hot days...but three in a row up there was insaine. :/ the heat really took it out of me. i dont think ive slept so much after an event in quite a while.

after not attending an earthcore for a couple of years now i am glad i went to this one. i found it to be very chilled in atmosphere and it was nice to see it wasnt 'to' commercial.
