**Do not make poppy seed tea if you have a severe allergy to peanuts**

Found this on another forum, thought it is somehting that should be shared!

http://www.pharm-text.com/pharmaecopia/showthread.php?t=1157

Please spread this to everyone you know, in every drug community there is.

**Do not make poppy seed tea if you have a severe allergy to peanuts**

If you have an allergy to any individual substance here: peanuts, almonds, brazil nuts, cashew nuts, hazel nuts, pistacio nuts, walnuts and pecan nuts, coconut, sesame seed, poppy seed, sunflower seed, and pine kernels.

It is likely you are allergic to other ones listed you are now aware of.

I have an extreme allergy to peanuts, if I eat one, I will die within minutes. I have an epi-pen for this reason.

While making poppy seed tea earlier I ate the poppy seeds that got stuck to my fingertips. I noticed a little itching in the throat from this and minor discomfort in the chest. I noticed these symptoms as I have many other allergies and realized I may be allergic to poppy seeds.

I go ahead and prepare the tea for myself and my friend. I take two sips and wait for 20 minutes because of what had happened previously.

All at once almost my eyes turned bloodshot, my nose got stuffier then ever before, and breathing became very difficult. I get in the shower in the hopes the hot mist would help out. It doens't and this point I can barely see and feel like I am going to black out so I go back to my living room where my friends are. They notice what bad of shape I am in.

Swallowing becomes difficult, I have to gasp for air, and used my asthma inhaler numerous times. Nothing is helping me be able to breathe, so I just sit and try me best to remain calm.

After roughly 30 minutes of dealing with this shit, breathing becomes a little easier, and now I am writing this. My nose is stuffy as shit still, I have horrible stomach pains, and feel like utter and complete shit.

Had I not noticed while preparing the tea the minor effects from eating the seeds I would have died. I was very close to death in my opinion, had I drank a little more I would not be here. With such effects from two small sips, god only knows what would have happened if I chugged the 4 ounces or so.

Please spread this to a lot of people, this is a great unknown danger concerning making poppy seed tea.

Thanks for the heads up--I am interested in how poppy seeds would/could have reacted with a peanut allergy--docs, what is the story, doctors morning and glory.

swybs

im not a doc but perhaps they are processed at the same factory, unclean machines? or mabye you have an allergy to one of the ingreadients of the tea? many are allergic to codiene

Meh...

Sounds like an isolated incident. If you have a peanut allergy you should already be very careful about what you eat. Poppy seeds get you high because they are dirty--they have been mixed with plant matter and other such things, while you aren't going to get food poisoning off them or anything if you have an allergy you should know better.

But I suppose it couldn't hurt to have it documented for those who do have a peanut allergy...

Poppy seeds get you high because they contain opium.

it's a good common sense warning. anyone with severe allergies should be carefull when introducing new plant products into their diet or environment.

while it's a good common sense warning, there are a lot of posters in OD (you know if you're NOT one of them) who seem to lack much of what we consider "common sense", so maybe this will save someone from a similar or worse fate.

do i think that anyone with a peanut allergy should automatically discount poppy seed tea? no. do i think that it is wise to stick your toe in the water before taking any kind of drug? absolutely.

thanks for posting this. it probably could have gone in trip reports, but maybe not. it does seem wise to have it posted in OD, where most are doing opiates/opioids.

poppy seeds do not contain any opium. they get you high becase they have opium on them that could not be/was not washed off when processing them. this is what he meant by their dirtyness getting you high.

ya, the pod is like..well..a pod that contains opium goo(technical term) and seeds. the seeds then are coated with the opium when they are harvested for the food industy.

yes. and other alkaloids.

i thought opium was not a chemical of its own but just what the goo is called. so pods contain opium, opium contains morphine, codiene and other alkaloids? (i know this is kida elementary for this board)

yes. i'm sleepy, and my answer was lame. the opium in pods (unless they're fresh) is dried, and there isn't typically a lot. i don't know if you could call it 'opium', since you couldn't scrape it out and sell it as such. in the drying process, 'opium' is dried, and there are lots of other alkaloids in the pod.

it's semantics. you are, however, correct. when dealing with 'fresh' pods.

So I UTFSE and decided to try poppy seed tea. Boy am I impressed with the results!

Its better than vicodin, and extremely cheap; heres my method (my question is basically is their a better way of doing it)...

I mix the juice of 3 lemons, about 200grams of poppy seeds from the local persian/afgan market (maybe thats why im getting good results from the tea lol) and i use hot tap water...

Let it sit for a bit, filter, and down the hatch...

I just tried it for the second time (right now)...feeling it good...i kinda 'washed' the seeds...

probably coulda like washed them 5 times...

its a yellow liquid and u can actually see white stuff in it....

Any experienced users here who can give me some tips with making it better?

Also, is the white stuff the opiates? Or is it just concentrated in the yellow liquid...

commoon...so many views and nobody posts anything....???

This stuff definitely works! I wanna find a way to make it as efficient as possible....help please...

thanx

The white stuff is probably bits of plant matter. The actual drug alkaloids will be dissolved in the acidic water.

Uh huh...

Thanks for sharing...You will have MUCH better results if you stop using seeds [they actually contain no alklaoids except for a smidgen of residual coating...if you're lucky]. Use pods instead. Take the dries pods and grind them as small as possible [a coffee grinder or industrial spice grinder works great]. When you have the pods ground place a tea bag sized amount of the matter into a cheesecloth [or similar strong and pourous material]. Tie off or sew the ends of the cloth bags and use as you would common tea bags. 12 pods is the average amount used for a pot of tea [by most users in my world] and will floor you if you like seed tea. The white stuff is fatty acids from the seeds. Alkaloidal material will not precipitate on its own without a catalyst.

edit just in case, I was JOKING>>

hah...would anyone competent enough to operate a computer think you were serious?
