Very difficult question

ok so I recently read that thc is a stereoisomer. This means that there are two types of thc, a left hand isomer and a right hand isomer. I also found out that the left hand side is approximately 10-15 times more potent than the right hand side. Here's the site for people looking for a reference. http://www.ch.ic.ac.uk/rzepa/mim/drugs/html/thc_text.htm

so my question is this: Are the two isomers created at random or are they created in an equal amount? I would love any input because the implications of them being created randomly could be huge. like two completely identical strains could have a huge difference in potency.

thanks guys

i have never heard of that all i know is there is 1 kind of THC wich is a mild form of LSD.the reason your feeling higher is probz becouse the weed you smoking has a high percentage of THC than your used to i think that website thing may be a hoax

^ THC is a mild form of LSD? o_O they're not related in the slightest - apart from both getting you high..lol

LOL^^

Mushrooms, LSD and weed all contain ENTIRELY different substances.

If you think otherwise your mentally retarded IMO.

I'm still laughing my ass off on this :P

All drugs at some point are grown from mother earth. A long time ago, when no life was on earth, a single animate creature was given life out of randomly placed particles, and that one creature evolved into all plants/animals/sea-life we know today.

LSD and Weed and 'Shrooms are the same thing.

This is a joke here... Highly derailed and not suited entirely for CD.

--> BDD - I think this belongs better here?

To answer the original question, they are not necessarily produced randomly but definitely not
equally either (an equal mix of stereoisomers is called a racemic mixture.)

It is likely that different strains will produce different compositions of stereoisomers based on unique factors surrounding that particular strain.

LSD = Lysergic acid diethylamide

Weed/THC = Tetrahydrocannabinol

Shrooms = Psilocybin + Psilocin

They're not even remotely the same thing or same drugs.

i think what he meant was (in a more metaphorical sense) that every organic substance/entity on earth is essentially composed of the same basic material that the FIRST living cell was composed of.

I'm only starting to take organic now, but (I believe that) generally only one of the steroisomers of a given compound is produced in abundance in nature. This one is usually labeled the right handed isomer? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
