Bojangles69 I've been reading your vegie inspired posts and its inspired
me to start eating more vegies too (just got done on a sweet potato salad with alfalfa, tomotoes, lettuce and fetta, it was
divine). It sounds really fantastic for you, and it's a change I'd love to feel myself too. If you can be bothered I'd love to know what you're eating on a typical day
Thank you! I can't tell you how excited that makes me and I've been scared I've been annoying people lately with my veggie preaching.
I can't say everyone would benefit as much as I did and I doubt most people would but catch my drift on this one single point. I have seen 2 polar opposites in my life from this experience one before I ate veggies and one after eating tons of veggies. And all am saying is before I had reached my "breaking point". I could NOT take how I was feeling anymore. And this has been going on for a couple years and I kept thinking it was the opiates breaking me down.
But I am realizing the same way opiates block pain and make you feel good, opiates STOP you from feeling the benefits of food. My diet slowly and progressively got worse and worse over time (being on opiates longer and longer) untill like I said I was eating 1 meal a day and that meal rarely had even a full serving of veggies in it. The energy I was getting from opiates kept going down over the years and then on top of that from having a horrible diet (and not even really ever focusing on it) I did not realize what that was also doing to my body.
Hypertension, high blood pressure, anxiety, irritability, insomnia, hypersomnia, bursts of energy at night and always being tired during the day. Sex drive plummeting along with what opiates had done to it. Coping with stress again I did not realize it but I could not cope with stress anymore either. Because I have NOT had *one single* "bad day" in the last 3-4 weeks I have been eating like this.
Not everyday is a great day obviously but for some reason now my mind just does not go into those "funks" anymore. Where work just fucks blows, life blows, everything just royally sucks and again I just kept thinking the opiates were making me depressed overtime (which I'm sure they were to a degree). But HOLY SHIT I am just not who I was only a few weeks ago. It took about 1 week before I really began to notice it and I was very skeptical about what was happening. People ALWAYS SAY how important diet is but holy fuck... is it possible that the majority of americans just have horrible diets? I mean look around you see obese people EVERYWHERE. Stressed people, tired people, everyone seems to have insomnia now and days. SO MANY people living on fast food and eating wayy too many meats and bread.
What I have seen has shook my entire reality from the ground up. I did not think this thing would last more than a few days but even after only a few days of eating like this my energy started to go up slightly which is why I said "oh I'll just go for a week". Very consistent energy and I'm realizing this has everything to do with blood sugar. It has consistently and very slowly been going up for weeks now. I'm not hyped up or anything its just like when I need energy now or to do something stressful (something particular at work say) the energy is there and I can cope with stimulation now w/out getting stressed out. And at night when the nutrients go away and I stop eating I get that normal feeling crash that I don't think I've felt in years. Like when your body goes into heal mode at night and tells you "time for bed" so I can do my shit. I'd get tired before at like 3-4am and even then would lay down and not be able to fall asleep. Like wtf?
That is a major sign imo of a person likely having a horrible diet. When you start getting bursts of energy at night and your energy "reverses" throughout the day. When you are tired from the minute you wake up and don't really wake up till 2-6pm. Some doctors believe that almost as much as 80% of people have these symptoms to varying degrees and that its a very mild form of adrenal fatigue. I believe those drs 100%. I believe wayy more people are suffering from adrenal fatigue and have no idea. Especially if you smoke and drink coffee and take drugs or stimulants. Then you are likely not eating consistently throughout the day or eating especially foods you need.
Anyway enough ranting.
What I do now and why I do it.
I follow the "80/20" rule 80% veggies/20%animal protien. But I have actually been veering towards vegan almost 95% I'd say this past week. I'm reading so much about how animal protien (red meat/poultry) makes your blood acidic and how this is also a major initiator of adrenal fatigue. Your organs can not function well in acidic blood. And acidic blood becomes a major host for viruses and bacteria to breed. It can also trigger immunosuppressive reactions like dry eyes when you get stressed out, or just dry eyes in general, itching, weird stingy type pains on your skin, allergic reactions to things you weren't allergic to before. I began having this to wheat and had to stop eating wheat bread just thinking I was getting older lol. Wow how ignorant I was.
But I started day 1 chewing lots of raw veggies randomly. Just literally "binging" every 3-4 hours and always having some type of veggie around me. Started buying discount veggies from shoprite so I was able to get a lot of their reduced produce. Around day 2-3 I began to hate this. It was becoming too much work chopping them down. Becoming too much work honestly just to chew all the shit. It was too drastic a change going from 1 meal a day to chewing chewing chewing raw crispy veggies all day. I also noticed my body was not able to break them down properly. This happens to people who don't eat veggies regularly I heard you can get indigestion. I'd shit my carrots out orange and all chewed up. Anything I ate would come out just like how it went in it was scaring me.
So I got the idea of the wonderful blender. Liquified veggies. This was VERY practical. I don't need *ANY* time to eat my veggies now. I can pound them down in 1 minute if I really need. And a lot of times thats precisely what I do most the day. Every night I get my big bad blender out and throw in usually the following:

zs (half a bag) baby carrots. Those small bags that go for $1.50-$2.00.
Half a cucumber.
1 fairly decent size broccli crown w/out the stem. Just the fibrous leafy parts as the stem adds a weird taste I found. The leafy part is neutral tasting in the blend as the flavors come from the fruit.
Then 1 more half cup serving of an oscillating leafy veggies with a neutral taste. Like romaine lettuce or cabbage sometimes I go for kale or swiss chard or even alfalfa sprouts when I'm feeling ballsy lol.
2 tangerines or 1 orange for my citrus fruit
2 apples
2 pears on pear day or 2 bananas on banana day I just try to switch the types sometimes but this is usually how it looks.
After that I then add 1 tsp metamucil for added soluble fiber to go along with insoluble fibers from the veggies. And if you really want it to taste exotic and rich I will sometimes pick up acai juice or pomegrante juice and pour in about a half a cup just for the creamy flavor it adds. A bottle generally lasts a week its only like $5. By "creamy" I mean something more homogenous as the veggies sometimes taste a bit grainy. The berry juice makes it smoother to drink down. If the berries have seeds you'll be picking your teeth all day. But some people like them and believe the seeds are more nutritous than the berries themself.
The most important part is the last bit which is 3 packs of stevia. The 100mg packets or you can even use truvia that any supermarket sells. The stevia is a must because for some reason it brings the stronger flavors out of the fruits/berries and makes them dominate the more neutral veggies. You might think this drink tastes like shit but it is better than any crappy fucking milkshake I have EVER had in my life. I love it. I only usually taste the citrus/berries/banana and other times depending on the apples they may come through too. But you can barely taste the veggies in it at all.
I fill it to the top with water and add like an additional inch or 2 of water then blend it down.
This gets me a massive nearly 80ozs. I drink 20 for breakfast with some quick oats or quinoa. For my first break at work I drink another 10oz then usually have a coffee with stevia as I'm still addicted to coffee lol. For lunch I make sure to get another 20ozs (again its very quick and easy to drink) and then I eat some non liquified raw veggies now. Usually a VERY tiny serving of uncooked mushrooms (just like 3-4 pieces) VERY tiny serving of raw broccli crowns (same just a few pieces) then a cup of beans for protien and 2 eggs. I gotta get my protiens at lunch. Then for dinner I just usually finish off the veggie drink and have a salad. Other nights I barbecue veggies and tend to use lots of peppers/onions with lemon/garlic as the main seasoning. Some nights I spoil myself and pour sesame/ginger marinade over them. But that has sugar so I only do it like once a week and a very small amount.
I do not eat any added sugar or salt in anything anymore. Sometimes it sneaks it with condiments but I really try to not get any.
Since doing this I almost began taking vitamins too automatically. But thats a whole nother thing and I just take the basic b-vitamins, 2000-3000mg vitamin c, omega fish oils, vitamin d, calcium, magnesium, and 5-htp.
Doing this like I said for about 4 weeks now I have not had 1 single depressing day after the first week. I am also INCREASINGLY and very slowly getting better it feels the more I do it. Skin has changed in tone. Pores have tightened. Gray hairs that people sometimes get from eating too much sugar (yes sugar can put random white hairs all over your body I read as it happened to me) are now blackening. Dandruf that I have seemed to have almost my entire life has GONE AWAY (that one really shocked me). My poop rarely even has an odor anymore. Somedays (gross I know but has to be said) I put my face inches from the toilet and can smell nothing at all. It has also changed from brown to predominantly green lol. Although if I somehow sneak in too much animal protien (rarely but I have gone past 20% a couple times as a treat) I find it goes back to brown and smells again. I also think all odors from excretion come from animal protiens and not veggies protiens. Eggs of course are an animal protien but for some reason 2 a day does not seem to add a smell. Just thought all this was very interesting when it started happening to me. Five days a week the protien comes from quinoa/soy/beans/eggs. No more red meat and rarely any chicken or turkey. I do not think poultry is terrible for you but it does make your blood acidic. That is going to do nothing but age your body quicker overtime I don't care what anyone says.
Some people have also suspected I quit smoking and I have not. Go figure.
I will not post anymore about this diet as I figure I can only "rant" about this specifically one time but was asked so posted it here in the vent thread. From seeing the 2 extremes my body/mind has gone from it has become boldy and I mean
BOLDY obvious to me diet has a
TREMENDOUS impact on ones general life and wellbeing/happines/stress/aging factor. I am never and I repeat never neglecting my body again. Not after this. This is better than any drug I could have in my blood right now. This is how health feels. It feels very right to me, so I am sticking to it for as long as I possibly can. And the psychological changes and becoming more outgoing have also been a plus. I respond so much quicker, am more focused in my thinking, stress does not sidetrack my thoughts anymore and throw them into anxious feedback loops. I'm always "there". And I don't even space out anymore which I also found was a major symptom of adrenal fatigue.
I never really gave a shit about nature and natural foods before but this could potentially turn me vegan for all I know..
