Vasoconstrictors and Estrogen?

Context: Taking 4 mg estradiol valerate a day for gender transition purposes, no testosterone blockers, have not had blood work to check appropriate dose levels as the bloody NHS is taking forever so I'm on my own for the moment.

I realised I don't know nearly enough about the risks of combining vasoconstrictors and estrogen. I know estrogen raises the risk of blood clots and nicotine is strongly contraindicated, but other than that I have no idea what risks the combo poses. IIRC the official NHS guide says there's no real study on the risks of drug combos with estrogen apart from with nictotine, so I was wondering if anyone has any better info than that as to the risks I am taking.

Which vasoconstrictors are you talking about specifically? Generally speaking, you're not going to have anything to worry about on such a low dose of estradiol beyond the risk already inherent in the vasoconstrictor in question.

Also, have you not pressured your GP to give you blood tests? They're not exactly difficult to perform.

Primarily was thinking of 3-FPM, from what others have said it has some vasoconstrictive properties.

Hadn't really thought about asking my GP to get tests done, as I was waiting to get an appointment at the gender clinic. I'll definitely ask about that after christmas, thanks for the advice.

Not something to worry about, honestly. You could take a small dose of aspirin for peace of mind though I suppose - 50mg would be enough.

Yeah, when you want to know how your hormone levels are doing, just ask your GP for blood tests, rather than wait for a clinic appointment. It's much better to visit a GP for something simple like a blood test than to attempt to do so via clinic specialists, and you can bring the results in to them so that they can make any adjustments straight away, thus saving all of you time and effort. Thanks again for the help, it's always good to know you're not accidentally killing yourself. I'll get blood tests done come the new year, and then hopefully I'll get to see a specialist march-ish, and actually get some progress with treatment. Cheers.
