Vaporizing weed in a meth pipe?

I was in my local smoke shop today and saw there meth pipes and I was wondering how effective it would be to vaporize weed with one. I imagine it would take a long-ass time to heat one up enough with a bic lighter, I figure that a light bulb vaporizer would be more effective for weed. What do you guys think?
 
The harsh hot air is not a nice feeling imho. I don't like vaporizers that can't cool the vapor down a bit before inhalation, with lightbulbs/methpipes its the worst in that regard. Methpipes are better than lightbulbs, which you should never use as vaporizers as they can shatter easily. If you can afford it, get a vaporgenie. Its like the Cadillac of vaporizer pipes that use a lighter as its heat source. And you don't heat the glass, but a ceramic porous disk that heats the air passing through it, so it heats up much quicker and is alot harder to overheat/burn vaporizables with since the glass doesn't heat up and stay hot. IE it heats the air via convection which vaporizes said volatiles when passed over, rather than the much inferior and less effective method of heating glass that comes in contact with the vaporizables via conduction.

In short, conduction (heating glass to heat whatever it is your vaporizing, like meth pipes and ghetto lightbulb methpipes) kinda sucks to vaporize things (hash oil glass/ti rod domes are an exception though). Convection is where its at, and the vaporgenie kicks ass at doing that.

Both.

What causes it? As the above poster said a) the fact the air is brutally hot. and b)unlike the case with smoking meth from a meth pipe it does not really vaporize so much as smoulder/pryolysis, so you get a nice big lung full of hot, acrid vegetable matter smoke with the vegetable matter not even burning nicely, instead think more along the lines of how a house fire smells/tastes/feels. All the tar and particulate matter and nasty products of hypoxic combustion.
 
I've done this plenty, both with weed and hash oil. I've had no problems with "harsh air"


If you're not burning the shit out of the weed the vapor shouldn't be that hot. You're supposed to keep the flame like 4 inches from the bottom anyways


Overall this works OK for weed, not that well. I mean, it does vaporize it, and you get pretty fucking stoned, but it's certainly not as effective as a real vaporizer. The weed pretty much needs to be powder to do this, kief or hash/oil works much better in a pipe
 
I made a lightbulb vape today and used it, it got me really high but I'm a bit worried about how hot the air is. If I use the lightbulb vape method often will it cause damage to my throat? It was really hot. Towards the end the plant matter turned to black rather than brown.
 
I use a plastic, mechanical pencil tube, I'm going to have to change that because it got so hot in the bulb that the plastic went limp, looks kinda odd and probably isn't healthy. I know it was vaporizing because I got way higher on a smaller amount of weed. I think it turned black because I used the same herb longer than I should have, I wasn't able see the color as well because I was in a dark car. My only complaint is that the lighter has to be held for a long time and it wastes some fuel, I want to invest in a torch lighter. Are torch lighters more efficient, do they use as much fuel? I don't wanna waste all of my money on bic lighters lol.
 
Lol I smoked hash and rub out of a meth pipe before and weed out of a lightbulb. It doesnt get you any higher imo. My friend just wanted to try it while i and another friend were smoking side, apparently it looks fun to rock the boat cause he was rockin the shit out of that hash.
 
I've never used a lightbulb or a glass dick/meth pipe but why not just get an actual vaporizer? There are a lot of them and they're not expensive unless you get the Volcano. Some of them even work with lighters but I've never tried that brand or type.
 
I used to smoke little bits of chronic in a oil burner all the time for a time. If you take proper care without burning the bud just heating it up it works great. Tastes different too, not bad just different than if you were combusting the whole bud.

The biggest downside is the short, wide open mouth piece doesn't prevent large chunks of ash or plant matter being sucked in and trapped on your lips/teeth/tongue/throat if you inhale too hard. All it takes is a little technique and practice to minimize the unpleasantries.

Fortunately they've come up with a nifty device just for this purpose: Including a little mesh filter to prevent flying chunks of weed getting to your mouth.

Check out herb iron (google the name herb iron to find it). It is a ceramic lighter that also has a vape bulb attachment available. Works epic on pipes and especially my zig-zag glass style chubbier from Oregon. It takes a little work to figure out how to work it, but it somewhat vapes and you can just burn the rest if you want. I usually make the vape refuse into firecrackers and it comes out EXTREMELY well.

Concentrates work great in pookie pipes, in fact it works work better than any other method of smoking IME, although i've never tried vaping buds using this method, and I wouldn't think it would be effective.

Hash oil in a DMT/pookie is wayyy more efficient than using a scalding hot Ti pad (curve) or using a titanium/quartz/glass nail and dome. It vaporizes a bit too slowly, though, so people who love massive dabs won't be getting their massive 0.2-0.3g dabs in one hit like they would using concentrate attachments.

Priest, I too hadn't used an oil pipe as I've never tried meth or DMT, but when I found out that my guy might be getting some DMT in, I got excited and grabbed a pookie. The DMT never came in, but I knew buying it that it would be perfect for oils. Vaporizers would be pretty wack to smoke hash oil out of, imo. Just asking to get clogged up if there's no reservoir.

Ti nail + dome > pookie > foil/straw (ew) > vaporizers when it comes to hash oil and earwax

I never found dmt to work well in a oil burner for breakthroughs.... It did give effect though

Also I learned a lot about dabs... You can not drop all the hash on the nail at once or it will pop and melt to the stem. The best way to do it is with small dabs and only tapping what your oil held to the nail for a millisecond repeatedly without letting all your oil fall off onto the nail at once.

There are also birdhouses which are awesome. They are a dome that has a glass platform that sits on its side as it sits on a glass on glass connector and you heat the glass pad and drop the hash onto it and the smoke gets pulled through the hole into the dome.
