Can anyone recommend a decent portable vape, it needs to be pretty inconspicuous

A Vapor Genie or an Iolite should get the job done. My vote is for Vapor Genie, especially their alumunim bat model as it will literally last forever, is extremely discreet, and is easy to scrape out all of the delicious goodness that builds up inside. Also, it's pretty cheap.

I second the launch box, very little warm up time (5 seconds as a posed to 3/4 mins) and very stealth and small. its expensive for what it is but they have a life time guarantee where even if you pick up a hammer and smash it on video they will send you a new one no questions asked.

What do you use to clean the little filter inside the pipe portion? I use like a knife or something after tapping it out, but theres usually quite more in there...maybe I should use canned air....hmm

EDIT: Also, I recommend this baby as well (the vapor genie). It's incredibly discreet, especially in black like miine, I feel like I'm like god damn james bond toking. It also just takes a couple hits of practice to figure it out.

Edit2: DAMN that aluminum bat thing is SO much easier to clean than the one I have!

^ I have one of the original wooden models (had it for the past 3 years or so). I like to let the 'Vapor Hash' (as I call it) build up over a few months; when I'm ready to clean it out, I take a couple hits without any herb (to heat up all the 'hash' and make it easier to remove) then use thin metal skewers (like you would use for kebabs) and just kinda scrape it along the sides, then use a pocket knife to scrape it off the skewer. Usually I can get a good-enough sized ball to last me a week or so, depending on how often I toke.

That's why I love vaporizers - it's like recycling weed. Vaporize the weed, re-vaporize the leftovers or cook them into edibles, then scrape out the stuff that builds up and vaporize that too. I can make an eighth last me a month of daily smoking (usually twice a day) if I'm careful with my consumption. Hash (real hash, not 'vapor hash') works even better - I recently went 6 1/2 weeks of daily smoking on about 2.2g. When I used traditional pipes/bongs/joints I'd be lucky to have an eighth last me through the week. Financially speaking, the Vapor Genie was an incredibly smart purchase.

The only thing that bothers me about the VG is the need for butane lighters - I always wonder how much of that shit I've been inhaling through the years. It's not like pipes or bongs where you just light it for a second - you have the draw steadily for about 5-10, and I'm not assured that all of the butane is being combusted. Not to mention the dust that flakes off every time you strike the flint (something they explicitly warn about on the VG website). I've tried the twine covered in beeswax that they sell on their site, but I've never been able to get the flame to be big enough.

EDIT: I see you were talking about the filter, but I'm not sure what you mean by "in the pipe portion". The ceramic filter in my model is in the removable cap, and I've never bothered cleaning it.

EDIT2: The Magic Flight pipe looks pretty cool. For those of you that have one, how long have you had it? I'm kinda dubious of handheld electronic vaporizers because they seem like they could become gunked-up or otherwise break (whereas the wooden/metal vapor genies will pretty much last forever). Also, the $120 price tag is a little intimidating for what seems like a bit of a novelty. That being said, I'm considering buying one.

Launch box, if you can take the time to learn to use it. Most of my friends i let try it, try and inhale to hard, and complain how it doesnt work. The few who take the time to learn you have to milk it, and hit it slow/steady get properly fucked up as intended.

I like it because of their no questions asked kickass warranty, simplicity/lack of moving/electrical parts (basically two copper conductive wires, and a mesh screen to short the two wires, in turn heating the screen), and the fact that 4 good 2400mah lsd (low self discharge ;) ) powerex aa's lasts all day in terms of # of hits.

Get the water pipe adapter (14mm) and a glass 14mm jhook, theres no better portable vaporizer imho. Thats my every day vape, the jhook is essential as it cools the vapor down so its much, much, smoother than just hitting the box alone. Plus its a glass mouthpiece, and you can see the vapor, so thats pretty nice as well. But i guess thats a bit more obvious and not inconspicous, i would recommend one of their glass tube mouthpieces, and still get the water pipe 14mm adapter and a jhook for when you can relax and not worry about judgemental eyes a lurking.
