:) :) Looking for some feedback on the use of vaporizers. From what has been written so far its mixed reviews. The Vapor Brothers(less expensive) and the Volcano(more expensive) are the two products with some popularity. In general how popular are Vaporizers? They require less herb to reach a more desired outcome and produce little or no tar and smoke which to me sounds like a much healthier efficient alternative compared to the more conventional methods of smoking (bongs, pipes, etc.) Some people claim vaporizers produce a harsh taste while others say the opposite. Whats the story?? I wouldn't say I'm young and have been in and out of the game for quite a while and have neither seen or experienced the vaporizer. Are these things worth the money? PROS AND CONS. Any practical information based on experience would be helpful.

Well, i havent had any experience with the commercial vaporisers, but lightbulb vaporisers ARE GREAT! you can save the vapo'd weed afterwards and smoke it again in a pipe/bong/whatever!

Headtear, I have a volcano. I was first introduced to it in Amsterdam. I love this vapo. yes they require less herb to get high. it's a different high. for me it's more of a body high then a head high. There is NO smoke, hence the term vapo. Your not burning your bud, your heating it to extract the thc to the vapo. As for taste. I never put "regular" weed in mine. Only kind bud. I've put a number of different strains in mine. Just about everyone has tasted different. In my opinion you get the true taste of your bud.

It's all a matter of prefrence as to answer the question is it worth it. For me, yes it's well worth it. I enjoy blunts over blunts. But a vapo does not kill your lungs like a blunt, and the smoke factor.

I don't have cons for it, other then the price for the volcano. I've had mine for 2 years and have never had a problem with the unit. I did have some issues finding bags for it. The manual gives you a number of bags you can find to use. I tried a few but they never worked like the ones supplied with the volcano. I just waited until last may, went back to Amsterdam and bought 5 boxes of bags. So i am all good for now (well until this june, then I'm buying more)

if you have any questions let me know.

good luck

Thanks for the info. How would you describe the quality of left over vapo'd weed??
Is it really worth saving to reuse in a bong?? If so this sounds like a win win situation and to good to be true. Thanks again.

I own both. The Volcano is totally superior, but for the price the Vapor Bros is an excellent entry-level model. It is difficult to get the optimal temperature with the Vapor Bros. Typically I end up burning the material more than is necessary, to make sure the goods are all used up. With the Volcano one can vaporize the material a few times to make sure it's used up, without it getting too hot.

It's basically shwag weed, good for cooking with.

^ If you're properly vaporizing the marijuana, it shouldn't have any actives left when you're done.

The left over weed definately still has actives in it.

about the amount you put in a joint got me and a mate more fucked than we ever did in our lives, i had quite a bit of tolerance as i had been smoking everyday for that past week. It was as if i had taken a dissociative and a psychadelic - my brain couldnt acknowledge my hands/legs were there. Everything became incredibly hilarious, and when we were forced to go to the supermarket we mustve looked VERY obvious as everyone kept staring at us. Color was simplified and vivid so i thought i was living in a cartoon world.

We ingested using a gravity bong (basically fill a 2L coke bottle with water, poke a small hole in the bottom cover it so water doesnt fall out, replace the lid with a cone/foil with holes in it, let go of the hole so water falls out and light the weed at the same time so the water creates suction pulling the smoke in. inhale)

The trick is to not overly heat your weed when vaporising it, so you are left with brown/dark green bud. when you inhale it should not be harsh at all. The vapour should taste like ass, its a weird sort of smell, a bit herby and a bit like popcorn :S, lol thats one of the things i hate about the vapo, the taste gets to you after continued use!

Heh, IMO you should just spend $1 and buy a lightbulb and test it out. Have a sesh with the vapo - see how you like the high. Save the vapo'd weed for the next day and have a sesh again with it - see if it works for you.

Just about ANY vaporizer will work OK.

Everyone has his own Favorite.
My favorite is the Volcano.
This is because it's the First one I tried.

If I'd tried the Vapor Bros., it would be my Favorite.

Get one.
Use it.
Love it.

I've tried my friend's volcano vaporizer very recently. It was quite nice. The taste of the vap'd weed was something like cut hay; apparently this is a common description. My friend also threw in some eucalyptus leaves a couple times; this made the taste considerably improved.

It was very nice. Very easy to inhale -- the opposite of harsh -- very smooth, almost tasteless, just like air with a slightly funny scent.

The high was also quite different. It wasn't a particularly "stoned" high; supremely functional. We could talk, move around, do things effortlessly; intelligence or quickness did not seem affected very much after the first 30 minutes or so.

Quite nice. Expensive, but certainly an excellent device to have, if you've got the disposable income.

I have the berbalaire. Exact same high as the Volcano, despite those snobs that say the VOLCANO is a superior high simply because it cost more... well the design is the same fucking thing so there is no way on this planet in this lifetime that you're getting more stoned unless you happen to vape more trichomes. it only costs $280 from their website and it's a fuckin good investment. the unit itself is small, the pump is SEPARATE and inexpensive, which is a good thing if you know pumps because that's the first part that's ever likely to break on any invention involving a pump is.... the pump. the unit also has an auto-off feature so if you're too stoned to turn it off it does it for ya. the parts are teflon and are totally safe, as teflon imparts NOTHING at the temperatures required for vaping. if it can fry your egg, it can sure get you fried off some herb. Personally, I'd buy it for twice the price... and my headshop ripped me off so I did pay almost double and don't regret it, but go with the website. nuff said; you don't need any other device.

For an entry model, skip the vapor bros, go all digital my friend.

Vapir 1 like no other.

I just picked this impressive piece of technology up for $180, great high, easy to use, warranty, and has the option between bag or hose. Something the volcano does not have.

Of course it has its issues, but for under 200 I dont think you can do better.

It should not taste like cut hay. Flowers is the most common description I hear. Schwag tastes kinda piney and "dry", but essentially bringing thermally induced dust into your mouth so that makes sense. 5 is a good temp, 6 is as well, but 7 would be more than pushing it. 6.2744589 is about as high you want to ever go.

The Voodoo and Vapir both work, but I would compare them to the Volcano the way I'd compare a Kia to a Mercedes which is not at b/c I'm not interested in cars, but I think you guys understand. Try to find a friend with a 'cano to try it out, but the price is going down. I saw an ad in the newspaper (yes'm. that's right. the fucking newspaper!) advertising 'cano's for $370. When your dinky, finger burning, hair dryer-sounding vape breaks you'll probably up-grade to the 'cano at that point anyways. I lived the cycle man. I didn't want to be one of those snobby cannabis oafs. But me and my 'cano met Nov. '05 and we've been happy ever since.

I cannot attest to the sic berbalaire sic as I've not tried it.

Really? I'm surprised. I've found lightbulb vaporizers to totally suck. On the other hand, my Vaporbox is excellent and my friends and I all love it dearly.

Of course, the Volcano is the best. I suppose it could suck if you set the temperature too high... but don't, and it'll be the best device you've ever smoked. I do admit that the high is somewhat different, but in my opinion that's a good thing. It's cleaner, smoother, more mental and cleaner physically, and the paranoia (if it exists) is totally eliminated. Plus, it leaves no smell on you. Plus, it's tremendously healthier. Don't get me wrong... I still enjoy smoking it sometimes, but vaporization is definitely my favorite form of consumption.

The first time I smoked a friend's Volcano, it was almost like the first time I ever smoked, except it was after 5 years of smoking daily. It was also the first time I smoked any kind of vaporizer. I could do nothing but giggle and roll around for a good 5 hours and I was high for the entire night.

In regards to the bags for the volcano, there is no specific bag type that you have to get. You just have to buy food-safe plastic from the grocery store and some ties and make your own (as big as you want!). This is in fact what they recommend by the manufacturer of the Volcano. I recently had a tour of their production plant in Tuttilingen, Germany and they are in process of developing a Volcano 2 (with digital display for temperature) as well as a mobile-version which is powered by a butane heater for on-the-go use. My friends invested in the original volcano, but I am holding out for the digital version or even the mobile (unfortunately still under development and won't be out until like end 2007 or early 2008)

The reason there are leftover actives in the lightbulb vaporizer is because it is not completley effective in extracting all of them, like the volcano is. I have tried smoking/cooking volcano remains and found no effects.

volcano is great if you have the money

vaporbros, vaporwarez, vapordoc all around $100-120 (on ebay and on the manufac. websites)

are all reliable and excellent vaporizers, i have at least 5 friends who own and love them, and many people have tried them who also love them.

cheap, effective and saves you TONS OF weed and keeps your lungs nice and clean (altho smoking pot doesn't cause cancer, its still nice to have pink lungs i guess...)

I own both a vaporbrothers and a volcano and would say that the volcano is definitely superior. However the vaporbrothers is a great vaporizer for such a cheap price of around $150. The volcano is much easier to use and the best part IMO is works great in a big group of people. You can throw the bag across the room to keep up a rotation. With a vaporbrothers you have to hit it about 2 feet away from the device.
