Vape temperature help

Hello!

So I've discovered that I prefer my cannabis to contain a fairly low THC/CBD ratio. THC certainly has its charms, but too much THC and not enough CBD makes for bad experiences (for me). Now, I may be wrong about this, but it seems that there are 2 basic ways to make sure I get more CBD compared to THC.

1) buy weed with stronger indica background

Problem with this option is that the people selling weed in my area usually don't have the slightest clue as to the genealogy of the product they're selling. They just say "this shit is good", or "this shit is bad". But that could mean anything.

I can't grow my own weed from seeds for various reasons.

2) use a vaporizer

Now, I've heard that vapes can be used to manipulate THC and CBD content of the vapors by altering the temperature of the device. First of all, is this correct?

If this is correct, what are the relevant temperatures? How can I maximize CBD and minimize THC? Is this even possible?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Since the boiling point of THC is lower than the boiling point of CBD vaporizers will always give you higher THC/CBD ratios.

To get around that you could set the vape to a low enough temp so that you'd only be vaporizing THC and have someone else take those hits. Then you could turn the temp way up and you could have the lower ratio vapor. (I haven't actually tried this before so it may not work in practice)

I see. So theoretically, I could vape out the THC and just vent it to the atmosphere, and then I'll be left with a CBD-rich product left over?

Maybe herb isn't for you? Even if you eat herb, smoke it, or vape it you're going to get THC.

I've smoked CBD rich herb and I got high but the high did not last nearly as long as it normally does. This was an old dugout a guy I used to know found since it'd been hidden for a few years and there was nothing else around to smoke.

I just felt sleepy and I could actually go to sleep after smoking herb which never happens at all.

The high wasn't that exciting at all, granted it was better than being sober but I could have smoked a bowl or J of schwag and it would have been more exciting.

^ It's correct, but if THC makes up 15% of the weight, then you just lost about 90% of the potency. You'd have to smoke 9x as much to get the same high probably.

Why would the loss of THC affect the potency of the leftover CBD? I'm not understanding this.

^ You're assuming THC doesn't get you high?... If you just vaporize the THC then you have a lower density of overall cannabinoids left in it, i.e. if you get some good shit that's a one hitter even for someone with a medium tolerance and you vaporize all the THC away all of a sudden you're smoking 3 grams just to get a threshold high. Not cost effective at all, that's why no one does it.

I guess you didn't read my OP.

If all you want is to ingest the CBD, boiling off THC would work great. It will noticeably reduce the psychoactive effect as people have stated.

Well THC is fun sometimes, but I like having a viable alternative to benzos, and CBD seems to be a good drug for that, at least in theory.

everyones saying you are right but that it would be really wasteful and you would have to smoke a ton weed on a really high vape temperature. There are hundreds of different chemicals that get you high but theres a reason why thc is considered the main active intoxicating chemical in marijuana. Sounds like you just dont like the main effects of marijuana to me, there is no similarity to benzos imo.

No, I'm talking about a low vape temperature to boil off the THC to the air and then smoking what's left.

THC =/= CBD. The effects of CBD are not from the THC. THC is a stimulant and psychedelic. CBD is an anxiolytic, antidepressent, antipsychotic (according to wikipedia, are they wrong?). Two drugs at play in cannabis.

The loss of THC should have no effect on the amount or potency of CBD. Unless I'm wrong about that? Are you saying that CBD only works in the presence of THC?

I know that some people smoke the weed for THC. But there are other drugs in weed. It's not a "waste" to not smoke the THC because I've already stated that I'm trying not to smoke as much THC. Perhaps this article will elucidate what I'm asking for:

By the way, despite making this thread, I want to point out that I LOVE THC. But loving something (or someone) doesn't mean I want it living on my couch, you know what I mean?

ok i think everybodys talking about different things in here so far.

yes, if you boil off some of the thc first youll have what youre looking for, itll just be a little weaker cuz of the missing thc, but you dont want that anyway.

You could always look at sourcing different strains that contain higher amounts of what you want.

I always start my vape at 320 and work it up to 400 degree fahrenheit. but that's because I want everything taken out of the weed. like people have already said thc at a lowed temp than the cbd's
