Hi guys. Does anyone else find when they've taken a few vallium colours become brighter, more vivid and everything seems to have a really crisp edge?? Almost like the beginning of a psychedelic trip.

very true, personally I have never experienced what your talking about from valium or any other benzo but everyone is different =]. Maybe your put into a better less edgy mood and you can think and see more clearly? Dunno

Interesting study regarding GABA-C, still not specific enough:

GABAc receptors are expressed in many brain regions, with prominent distributions on retinal neurons, suggesting these receptors play important roles in retinal signal processing.

A friend of mine (genuinely a friend not me), hadn't had any for a long time after years of abuse. He took 30mg and reckoned they weren't Valium because he was having small visual effects. After a while he knew they were legit but still. I have never experienced any visuals at all.

Again why BDD it is nothing to do with harm reduction! I though DC was to talk about experiences on drugs? Why wouldn't it stay open? Thanks chromophobia for the links, very interesting! I find it strange no one else experiences this.

^No problem, fact is your onto something I'm just not able to find the data I want. The reason I strongly believe in your inference is that a very common symptom of benzodiazepine withdrawal is photophobia, so factor in that withdrawal symptoms are always paradoxical to the effects of using any given drug, there's no reason not to believe that benzodiazepines make a users eyes receptive to light.

I'm still looking into it, if I find something definite ill update.

I am Rx'd and do personally note slightly brighter colors for a very short while around the time what I've taken peaks.

This used to happen when I took flunitrazepam.
It's was just like you described it.
It was short-lived however.

I think it has something to do with the anxiolytic effect.
The anxiety/tension is relieved and when that relief is at that point where your body+mind are "in sync" with your surroundings, everything "comes into focus".
But then the drug's sedating effect comes into play and things start to go "out of focus" again.

This can happen naturally when exercising, endorphins are released and IME I get a similar visual enhancement, but not as pronounced.

Hope this makes sense, not easy to put into words.

As soon as tolerance comes into play then you can say goodbye to that nice side-effect.

It's not exactly HR but BDD cover basic questions about effects, where as OD tends to be a bit more in-depth.. DC cover more light-hearted/social topics revolving around taking drugs - they'd probably move this thread over here actually I think it's in the right place. If it just turns into a list of people saying "yeah I get that" or "no I don't" it'll be closed though as we're a Q&A forum and try to keep things fairly short and sweet

I do notice some kind of slightly perceivable shift with my sight when I take a moderate to large dose of diazepam. Maybe due to its muscle relaxant properties? I don't notice it with alprazolam, which produces only a very mild muscle relaxant effect, especially compared to that of diazepam.

i don't really notice this with diazepam but etizolam in particular really affects my vision, to the point where it's like light psychedelic visuals, colours are bright and vibrant as well. Maybe everything just looks better because i feel better though.

With high doses of diazepam I definitely notice this - not to a huge extent but definitely to some. I've never experienced a psychedelic trip so I can't compare, but it feels like the lights are more intense and colours appear more vivid and lovely. Morphon - maybe you're right, the eye muscles could relax to the point where it starts to happen, or it could be something to do with the GABA receptors, as lorazepam can bring on hallucinations and ambien quite vivid and disturbing ones, diazepam could affect the same receptor but to a weaker extent perhaps... Just my theory, but could be wrong. Either sounds quite probable.
