I've taken Valium I think two times. Both times I combined it with weed, one of the times I combined it with Vikes as well. Both times I took 20mg. My question is - how is Valium by itself in doses of like 50mg+ ? I dont have much of a Benzo tolerance if any at all. The only other Benzo I've taken is Xanax maybe 5 times max.

like xanax but longer acting.

Don't take 50mg as you will just fall asleep most likely, stick to 20mg. Redose 1.5hours in if need be, don't expect to get 'high' high... the high is chilled, relaxed and snuggle :)

valium isn't too 'recreational' of a benzo imho
/flippingtop is spot-on - valium lasts *forever* lol. (oh, and you won't be 'high' that whole time, it's just something that'll be in you for a bit after the subjective effects)

Valium used to be my favorite benzo. I have since replaced it with clonazepam. The thing with Valium is that if you have a need for it (like anxiety) it lasts a long time. Also it is a very mellow feeling, better than most benzos. A couple of things I would suggest:

1) It seems to stop getting any better/more powerful after 50mg. That's like the peak dosage, and after that anymore you take is wasted. Further, 50mg will make you very tired.

2) Don't take it with alcohol. You will black out and remember nothing. If you do decide to take it with alcohol, I suggest taking a camera with you so you can at least SEE what your night was like afterwards. The worst part about it (outside of the obvious dangers of dying from walking into traffic or something) is that you (or at least I personally) tend to use everything you have left when you are on it. I went on Valium and alcohol once and woke up with no more Valium, when I had about 170mg when I started. Same thing happened to me once with alcohol and clonazepam. I somehow finished off a bottle with 9mg of clonazepam and don't remember doing it.

oh, i should add my standard "newb to benzo's" advice: decide how much, *max*, you will allow yourself to take that evening, and hide/make-inaccessible the rest of what you have. benzo's have a tendency to make people re-dose to stupid levels, both because the 'high' isn't what they expected, adn because they keep forgetting they redosed 10min ago (during the half hr leading to the blackout ;P )
/also want to add, since OP is just starting to mess w/ such a strong, addictive chemical - benzo's are some of the most addictive / dependence-causing drugs out there, and tolerance builds quick. and i think the following applies to many people who do/have used benzo's- they're the devil when it comes to the "i did WHAT last night?"-effect

I took 30 mg when I had no tolerance, and after around 20 mg, the effects didn't get any better. Don't waste your drugs by taking too much.

I'd say 30mg by itself provides a nice, calm sense of well-being and euphoria. Also I think benzos (particularly diazepam) are an acquired taste because you become more familiar with the "high". Moderate tolerance can also be helpful with enjoying benzos recreationally because it allows you to consciously enjoy the buzz without blacking out

30mg, going too high will just push your tolerance up and with benzos it takes a very long time to drop again.

This advice is spot on.

Please listen to what this poster has written,it is perfect and true advice imo/ime.

Extremely true. I ended up taking 150mg one night (after some decent alcohol intake) and blacked out for about 7 hours and said some pretty dumb shit. Now that's stupid.

Also extremely true. Definitely don't use on the regular for months, it'll stop working and possibly not work again (or at least an extremely long time). I had to take a month off every couple months when I used Valium very regularly.

The "I did WHAT last night?" effect is very true. At first, and not extreme, unsafe doses, it can be enjoyable and somewhat funny. I'm missing most of the first 2 weeks of Univeristy from my memory, lol.

But, also, I wouldn't take 50mg+ and I'm very experienced with it. I find 20mg fine if you know your stuff. It's not a typical "high", it just does what it's meant to do, erase anxiety. So it is fun to look back at how you were if you had fun being anxiety-less. Much like that anxiolytic effect of alcohol, just better overall IMO.
