Listen burn_out.

_Every_ drug experience is subjective. By milligram potency (determined by extremely qualified people--not Morphinator) they certainly are.

The more potent the drug, however, the more the subjective experience will learn towards the "stronger" description of effect, as opposed to the all too common "it was boring" effect.

or maybe Morphinator is just obsessed with comparing the so called "hypnotic" benzos to barbituates and insisting they are somehow different from other benzos. he posts the same weak scientific data over and over to support this, despite the contrary experiences of countless bluelighters. yes, they are more sedating but in my opinion it's like comparing oxycodone to morphine. people will tell you morphine is more sedating. does that mean oxycodone is any less powerful of a drug? no.

Again, another ignorant comment from someone who doesn't know much about what he/she is talking about.

You cannot compare opiates to benzos. The analogy is crap and is worthless.

Morphine is sedating, oxycodone is ALSO sedating, despite what anyone says. Morphine may be more sedating, but that is another issue. Benzos are SEDATIVES. Opiates are PAINKILLERS and opiates are measured and compared to each other by how their relative ability to reduce pain.

Benzos are compared to each other by their relative ability to knock you ass out, relieve anxiety, tension and as muscle relaxers. Temazepam (and the other hypnotics) are in the "knock your ass out category". Alprazolam, oxazepam, diazepam, and Co. are in the anxiety relieving category. This is NOT something I made up. It is something that the makers and synethesyzers of these chemicals CONCLUDED via controlled SCIENTIFIC experiments.

YOUR OPINION and that of "Adders" matters very little here.

The subjective effects you get from different drugs is YOUR OWN opinion and psychological perception, NOT FACT.

Also, burn out...can you define what "weak scientific data" is? LMAO. I know now you never even graduated high school.

It also has a lot more to do than just being "more sedating". Its obvious you know nothing, or very little at the most. Get a clue, and please stop giving people misinformation which can be dangerous.

Example....like you claiming to downing 300 mg of temazepam and then magically nothing at all (NOTHING) happening to you. That is a flat out lie, no matter how tolerant you maybe. Even very users who have a high tolerance will at least feel something. This can be dangerous to people who will go on thinking temazepam is a weak benzo that they can't ever possibly OD on, when in fact, it is a very powerful benzo and is the leading benzo involved in drug overdoses.

Conclusion: YOU ARE AN IDIOT.

Sorry, I have no experience with Barbs.
But agree, Valium, FOR ME, is SHITTY.
Xanax, in my opinion is the best ever benzo in the whole wide universe. :)

And the "contrary experiences" of bluelighters would qualify as "strong scientific data" 8) ? How about you show us some "strong scientific data" to support your claims? I'd just *love* to see what you come up with. Until you actually have some research behind what you're saying, do us all a favour and can the arrogant know-it-all replies.

Exactly!

burn_out seems to think that the his/her and other BL'ers opinions are above and beyond the empirical evidence provided by scientists and doctors through controlled scientific studies. 8)

I mean, we all have our own opinions and experiences with all kinds of different drugs. But they mean very little at the end -- they are just our own personal preferences, and our personal preferences have no bearing on what X drug is and what Y drug isn't.

I know people that prefer hydrocodone over morphine and heroin. They believe that hydrocodone is more euphoric and recreational and that is fine, I have no problem with that. However, that is simply not true when you look at the facts.

I freely admit that nitrazepam and temazepam are my 2 favorite benzos (I generally prefer the hypnotics).
I myself am prescribed alprazolam on a regular basis and I believe it to be a wonderful benzo. It is very potent and it does its job very well. I like alprazolam also. But it is WHAT IT IS! It may be more potent by weight than most, if not all the benzo hypnotics (except triazolam), but it just doesn't pack the punch that any of them do.

It's definitely not just a matter of being "more sedating" as the totally clueless burn_out thinks, but the hypnotic benzos have a much more profound effect on respiration, the heart, blood pressure, memory and brain function. They also kick in quicker, most hypnotics will be felt within the first 30 minutes. Most of the hypnotic benzos are also much harder on the unborn fetus than the typical benzodiazepines. Three of the hypnotics (temazepam, nitrazepam, and nimetazepam ) are listed under Category X for pregnancy - this is the highest risk category for fetus.

Another thing, as I have mentioned, some of the hypnotics share cross tolerance with barbiturates. Temazepam, nitrazepam, flunitrazepam, nimetazepam, and flurazepam are known to have this quality.

In conclusion, the hypnotics are not only stronger, but they are more toxic and potentially dangerous.

So I hate how idiots can claim strong drugs to be weak and then on top of that claim to take massive doses and say they walked around and drove and nothing happens (like burnout claiming he/she took 300-400 mg of temazepam). To compare, that would be like taking 10 mg of alprazolam, only with the temazepam there would be more profound sedation, respiratory depression, decrease in heart rate, etc etc. This is not just dangerous, but it is stupid. Plus, the facts are there, yet they still want to be stupid about it. I mean, temazepam is the leading benzo in overdose deaths. Just stupid and dangerous. People like that should not be allowed to post on here, seriously!

Read some of this stuff below:

"Temazepam is a drug which is very frequently involved in drug intoxication, including overdose. Overdose of temazepam may result in excessive sedation, impairment of balance and speech. This may progress in severe overdoses to respiratory depression or coma and possibly death. The risk of overdose is increased if temazepam is taken in combination with alcohol, opiates or other CNS depressants. Temazepam overdose responds to the benzodiazepine receptor antagonist flumazenil.

Benzodiazepines were implicated in 39% of suicides by drug poisoning in Sweden, with temazepam, nitrazepam and flunitrazepam accounting for 90% of benzodiazepine implicated suicides, in the elderly over a period of 2 decades. In three quarters of cases death was due to drowning, typically in the bath. Benzodiazepines were the predominant drug class used in suicides in this review of Swedish death certificates with 72% of benzodiazepine overdoses showing that benzodiazepines were the sole drug used in deaths by overdose. Benzodiazepines and in particular temazepam, nitrazepam and flunitrazepam should therefore be prescribed with caution in the elderly.

Nitrazepam, and especially temazepam were the benzodiazepines most commonly detected in overdose related drug deaths in an Australian study of drug deaths. Benzodiazepines were found to be the sole cause of death in one third of cases.

In a retrospective study of deaths, when benzodiazepines were implicated in the deaths, the benzodiazepines flunitrazepam, temazepam and nitrazepam were the most common benzodiazepines involved. Benzodiazepines were a factor in all deaths caused by drug addiction in the study. Temazepam, nitrazepam and flunitrazepam were significantly more commonly implicated in suicide related deaths than natural deaths. In four of the cases benzodiazepines alone were the only cause of death. It was concluded that flunitrazepam and temazepam were significantly more toxic than other benzodiazepines."

:D
i guess something is wrong with me too, since i dont get high off of benzos. ive tried:

2mg xanax low tolerance

3 mg clonazepam low tolerance.

no effect: getting drunk is waaaaaay more better.

what know it all replies? i only replied once. i've already had this debate and i don't intend on having it again. use the search engine and read the old threads if you're interested.

the only thing i am claiming is that strong scientific evidence that, so called "hypnotic " benzos have far more abuse potential than the other types, is lacking.

let's hear you say that when you're incredibly hungover after years of heavy drinking. eventualy, alcohol loses some of it's euphoria and you need to drink so much to get drink that the hangovers are simply ridiculous. that's when you realize how great benzos are. btw, 3 mg xanax and 3 mg clonazepam are pretty low recreational doses.

dont know if i already posted this, but ive taken 90mg valium and felt NOTHING, not even tiredness, but thats just me, everyone's different. only benzo that has had any effects on me besides tiredness is klonopin. maybe librium too but ive only taken that in detox so i really cant tell u what effects it had on me as I was already messed up.
burn out, what do you think is a recreational dose of xanax and klonopin? just curious.

as a college graduate, i see it's not even worth my time conversing with you.

Well then don't talk of "weak scientific data", because you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Scientific data is aquired through controlled scientific experiments and these are done over and over again. Studies are published and then they're peer reviewed. It has never been disputed that temazepam (or any of the hypnotics) are more powerful than the rest of the benzodiazepines. The only people disputing these things are you and a few other users of these drugs. This does not mean crap.

Again, I must repeat myself. All research indicates that the hypnotic benzodiazepines have a higher abuse potential. The most commonly abused benzos are, guess what? the hypnotics! Temazepam is heavily sought after and abused in Europe, Australia, NZ, and many parts of Asia. Nitrazepam has a similar profile, but not as extreme. Nimetazepam is notorious in SouthEast Asia. Flunitrazepam is rampant in North and South America. I am not making this up - it's all FACT. For these reasons, temazepam and flunitrazepam are often scheduled and regulated much more strictly than all other benzos in almost ALL countries of the WORLD. Nimetazepam has a similar regulations surrounding it in Japan and Southeast Asia (but not as badly regulated as temazepam or flunitrazepam).

I don't care what benzodiazepine you prefer, that is your own choice and it is absolutely fine (there are people here in the forum that prefer oxazepam over all others, which is fine. But at least they know it is a weak benzo). We ALL have our own personal preferences, but please don't give out misinformation which not only can be dangerous, but is just plain stupid. Especially when knowing the fact that temazepam is the LEADING benzo involved in overdoses. The benzos which you call "so-called hypnotics" are hypnotics, period. They were designed and are indicated for this. Yes, they are similar to the rest of the benzos, but they are more toxic, stronger, and easier to overdose on. Not only are they more sedating, but they have much stronger depressant effects on the respiratory system, heart, memory, blood pressure and brain function.

Whether you like these facts or not is not my business, but do not argue them because you will lose and made to look like a complete ignoramus. Also, by arguing the facts, you give people the wrong impression and that can be dangerous.

i never disputed it, i simply believe the difference is minor and not major like the difference between benzodiazepines and barbituates.

all those affects would fall under the term "more sedating" and like it or not, you are not going to die from taking a couple extra temazepam (assuming you are not mixing them with any other drugs). they are not barbituates.

It becomes useless for recreational purposes over the years. But if you can find a right dose for yourself and make it stable the anxiolytic effects will still bwe there.
