valium or xanex?

I prefer xanax over valium now. Valium is nice every now and then but after a while of using it and not too often builds up a high tolerance I guese because of the half life and I just keep upping the dosage and feel the same until the next day, then I feel so groggy and out of it, shitty. With xanax I can take around the same dosage every time and it actually gives me a care free, anxiety free day, with a little buzz. Valium to, just makes me too tired and you keep having to take more.

ok well everyone seems to have their own favourites and opinions and thats fine,BUT-one thing about all benzos that i only just learnt the hard way and i think is very important is this-they are only effective in the SHORT TEARM.im talking 2 to 6 weeks maximum! as most of u prob know your tolerance to benzos goes up very quickly in a very short period of time,2 serapax used 2 knock me out but now they basically have no effect on me at all,and exactly the same thing with temazepam. It got 2 the point where i totally lost my secadium rythyms and not only that but they start giving u the side effects that u took them 4 in the first place-in a big way! i got extremely nervous and anxious and they literally have the REVERSE effects compared to when u first started taking them-they really fucked me up.serapax is the one that comes back and bites u the hardest.

ummm, 2 to 6 weeks is when the recreational effects wear off. As far as I know they (well xanax) will help anxiety at a sustained dose indefinitly

Everyone says xanax doesn't last long.... 4-6hrs or something. But I can take one dose in the evening before bed and be anxiety free for more than a day.

i totally agree with this, valium is the benzo that has gotten me the highest by far but it's also the benzo that has made me feel the shittiest. valium is great in doses up to 40 mg but once you start needing more than that the side affects become annoying. xanax has less of a body load.

for me I have noticed that every addictive drug makes me feel shitty right about the time I should develop a dependence to it (my body rejects it and I stop using it).....except xanax

anyway back to topic...

i'd say for anxiety relief / panic attacks

10mg of diazepam = 1.5-2.0mg alprazolam

for getting high

20mg diazepam = 2mg alprazolam

i get more sleepy/clumbsy from xanax because i need to take more than 1.5-2mg to anxiety relief, sometimes even more. and i get really drunk feeling sometimes. it feels like i'm taking 15-25mg of valium or more sometimes. but if i take 0.25, 0.5, 1.0 or 1.25mg of xanax i just dont get any anxiety relief, maybe with 1.25 but not with anything less. minor anxiety relief, but nothing at all helpful for panic attack like 10mg of diazepam is.

Valium. I'm lucky to have a script for temazepam as well. Chasing a Restoril with a Valium? Sheer bliss.

Xanax is the crack of benzos.

I like them both for their own unique anxiety relief affects.
Xanax is great for sudden anxiety and to help me fall asleep easily, until it wears off then I'm awake again.
Valium is good for lasting all day and not interfering as much with my mental thinking, but it's definitely there.
Now a days I tend to prefer Xanax for recreational use, but my preferences always change.

Astroboy007 has a point about benzos being best for short term use. Yes they will work long term, but they start to cause problems with addiction and needing them to sleep and make it through the day.
And temezepam is only supposed to be used for very short periods of time, 2 weeks is usually the set length because tolerance develops so quickly to them and people tend to "need" them to fall asleep if used for a longer period of time.
And if you do use them for a long period of time your tolerance tends to go through the roof and when/if you really do need them for anxiety in the future they won't work like they are supposed to, which can be a bitch if you ever find yourself having real anxiety problems[not saying people on here don't have real probs, just most people abuse them and don't really need them].

Agreed on Astroboy's good point... but I was refering more to his post on the previous page.

ah yes I see now.
Then agreed that was retarded
And i don't feel xanax is the "most powerful" drug there is.
All drugs have their dangers, no matter if it be while using them or from withdrawing from them.
Its all about the person using them who makes them dangerous or not. But still even if you do your research and try to be as safe as possible, as safe as you can be while doing a drug, there are still risks. Its about reducing those risks by trying to be responsible and not doing stupid shit while high, like driving a car....JMO

NIETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and xanax DEFINATLY isnt the "most pwerful" drug there is. FUCK its not even the most powerful benzodaizepien. HALCION, Triazolam trumps it if you look at scientific charts you will see that xan, kpin, and halcion are ALMOST EXACLTY the same potency, however Halcion is slightly more potent. plus it fucks you up WAYYYYYYY better and harder. they both pis me off though cause an hour or 2 later you are down already.
now valium, is a VERY NICE feeling drug. however if you have any kind of tolerance, its of no use. plus it doesnt last as long as....
KPINE-THE KING. king kpine. seriously i mean its among the very most potent benzos, it lasts longer than any other (dalmane lasts a smilar amount of time) valium is WAY short acting compared to the 24/7 kpined out state. it lasts at least a good 8-12 hours of SOLID anxiety releif, and for basicaly days you will still feel it. i personly after arout 6 years on this drug take it 3 times a day at 2 mg each time. it trumps ALL others.......EXCEPT
TEMAZEPAM=the Most euphoric benzo there is. they actualy get me high so i dont have much self control with them and they fuck me up so nicely so i want to keep it that way and not take them every day becasue theey ARE THE EBST BENZO HIGH.
xanax is HIGHLY euphoric and may smack you in the face a little harder and faster than a klonopin......but a kpin gets you JSUT the same...it just comes on smoother and more gently and it takes a little longer but it builds to teh same feeling and lasts ALL day where a xanax lasts 4 hours TOPS.
xanaxs and valiums and temazepams are for fun for me. i can only use them for recreation/occaional sleep help. cause i take my kpin as prescribed and i dont like to fuck up my tolerance and ruin a high like ive ruined kpins (its worth it for teh great anxiety releif though)
peace

well as for the "valium is so great" comments. I agree, when i take a nice high dosage (lets say 90-120mg), its like the morphine of benzos... not very potent but has some of the best effects. HOWEVER, it comes in such low dosages that I almost always prefer taking clonazepam... and alprazolam is nice too but my favs (due to practicality) are clonazepam, flunitrazepam, and temazepam. I prefer the hypnotics. Klonopin is the only non-hypnotic benzo i really like... and the -lams are fun.

Klonopin is my personal favorite benzo ever. For some reason it is one of the only benzodiazepines that gives me a euphoric high. The others just rid me of all anxiety and caring about anything. When I've take temezepam I don't remember much of the experience, which is no fun! lol
Halcion just killed my anxiety and didn't make me tired at all.
Lorazepam was great for anxiety relief, but once again it did a number on my memory.
I've never gotten the chance to try Flunitrazepam and I really hope to get to sometime in the future I've heard it is very euphoric and obviously very powerful.

But then again I would happily take a Secobarbital over any benzo any day. lol

"Xanax lasts 4 hours tops" I don't understand people who say Xanax lasts 2,3 or even some people 1 hour. I have severe Anxiety & Xanax lasts 7 hours maximum for me. After that my anxiety creeps back up & at 8 hours bang it's all over i need to re-dose. I've tried Valium & Temazepam & they both don't compare to Xanax.

Been on Xanax for roughly a year & a half now & wondering if there's anything stronger that is available in Australia

When people say that it only last that long I don't think they usually mean for anxiety relief but the euphoric effects of xanax only last a few hours.
