Valium & Drinking - need advice for tonight!

I took 2mg valium at 1pm today because I needed to sleep...it worked and I got a few more hours sleep and now it's like 4pm. I'm about to start getting ready to go out to see a band I have been waiting to see for a very long time with a bunch of friends - suffice to say there will be plenty of drinking and drug taking going on.

So if I start drinking at around 6pm will most of the valium be out of my system and will I be safe to drink? It will probably be a long night so by the time gig's over I imagine I would have drunk anywhere from 5 to 8 drinks. Is this dangerous? It's a low dose of valium and by the time the gig starts at 9pm it would've been 8 hours... :/

I was also planning on taking some MDMA before the gig, I can't see any issues there except the valium may slightly dull the roll.

So is this safe or should I be worried about 'complicaitons' or falling asleep.... I am having some energy drinks now as I feel pretty lethargic! :|

Also, I took 10mg Temaz at 4 in the morning to help me sleep then too, but that would definitely be out of my system...right?

Urgh, wish I had thought this through last night. Unfortunately, I had tickets to see two of my favourite bands two nights in a row...I hate two doing night-benders :\

Yeah, 2mg is next to nothing, and if you hadn't slept all night I'm pretty sure it was next to placebo that the pill made you asleep - you were just exhausted most likely.

There won't be any complication from the diazepam regarding the MDMA - in fact it's neuroprotective at low doses so you're doing your brain a favour, however, the combination of alcohol and MDMA is not the best of ideas, it never is, so unless you know what you're doing and have a lot of experience mixing the two I'd suggest you take it easy on the alcohol or MDMA. See both will dehydrate you, in large amounts, and could lead to a really bad case of dehydration (it's no joke). I can assure you now that if you take the MDMA you don't be drowsy in the slightest, don't drink the energy drinks, you're adding more danger to what is already a dangerous combo. Both drugs also lower the seizure threshold, and again, could cause you to have a seizure. It seems like you've had a rough couple of nights sleeping too- meaning your body is under additional stress at the moment too, you really need to be careful. If I were you I'd give this night a miss, remember you always have the rest of your life to go out and get off your face, but it sounds like tonight might not be the best idea for you.

As you should know, alcohol is a downer and MDMA is a potent stimulant. Mixing both of these can cause adverse cardiovascular effects, you could end up with a heart attack, or a heart problem . My friend who is only 20 was recently diagnosed with superventricular tachycardia after mixing these two, and will have it for the rest of his life. I can tell that you take things seriously when it comes to drugs as you're asking about 2mg of diazepam - but that's the least of your concerns honestly.

Make sure you keep yourself hydrated with water if you insist on doing it, but don't go overboard, and if you feel things are getting out of hand get to the hospital immediately. Stay safe.

Well, I usually pre-drink on MDMA to get in the mood, like around 4-5 drinks for a few hours and then I drop and maybe have 1 or 2 more whilst rolling. Is it really dangerous? Because I've never had any issues with this. I also drink gin and soda to keep hydrated, plus actual water too. I mean I've done this so many times I can't count it, wouldn't have realised it was dangerous.

What exactly lowers the seizure threshold? MDMA and valium or alcohol....?

So you think if I take it easy on the alcohol, maybe have 3 drinks before I leave home instead of 5 and then roll for the rest of the night that would be the safe option?

Tonight is not going to be missed - tickets cost me quite a bit of money and this is literally my favourite band that is still alive. I won't do anything that will kill me, that's why I am asking for advice, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to go. I have gotten a fair bit of sleep, went to bed at 4am and woke up at 11:30am and then went back to bed at 1pm. I'm tired because of the damn valium! Don't know why the heck I took it, I just figured I needed the extra sleep to get through tonight.

Does anyone have an exact time-frame for when valium leaves your system or is in-active? I could hold off on the booze until that point

Peak levels of the drug are reached within a couple of hours after administration, with levels dropping below therapeutic effectiveness within six to eight hours.

Just found this online...so after 7pm it shouldn't really affect me...so it will be okay to drink then? I'll have a beer around 6 but can hold off until 7pm to really get into the booze.

Alcohol is a drug, remember that, it's what I was referring to when I said "the two".

MDMA and alcohol BOTH INDIVIDUALLY lower the seizure threshold.

Each drug also dehydrates you substantially.

Alcohol makes your heart rate drop, MDMA makes it rise. Both of them do so at very powerful levels. This could cause you to have a heart attack as the body cannot handle it.

The 2mg of diazepam is no problem. Literally, 2mg is next to nothing, it will have no effect whatsoever on your night.

You're kidding me right? Hydrating with GIN and soda? Aka more alcohol which dehydrates you?

Keep the booze to as minimum as possible, and enjoy your roll.

Well, like I said I drink actual water too. But I drink gin and soda because at least the soda water is water and not another soft drink that will add to the dehydration.

Cheers, I'll keep the booze at a minimum, particularly during the roll. Drinks are fucking expensive at this place anyway, probably save some money.

Jess, valium stays in your system for 100's of hours. It has an incredibly long half life.

Yes, but it's not active, surely...I mean it's anti-anxiety/lethargy effects wear off after about 5 hours.

Suffice to say I had no issues drinking last night, although didn't really indulge much after I dropped.
