I've been on alprazolam for 4 years straight, never a day without them. Plus, all the temazepam I buy on the side. I'm scared and worried about the day I have to come off of them, if I ever do.
Oh, it blows. But once you've been on them for like a decade withdrawals can last up to 18 months! So I've read. From personal experience the longest I've been clean has been 6 or so months and not once did I spend more than a couple days without some discomfort. After the first few months it got much milder but they still lingered. Little things like quick body spasms (mostly legs), uncontrollable muscle movements like twitching, shaky hands, sweating & RLS. And then psychological problems like swings in your mood, depression, unexplained anxiety & insomnia. Those are the type of things you deal with. Some times you may start to think that your feeling better but a couple days later your back suffering one or more of those symptoms. Once you've tapered off properly it seems like your in the clear but all of a sudden like a month later you'll start to experience the withdrawals again. My last attempt I went maybe 5 months. I did a very slow diazepam taper and suffered very little coming off it. I honestly thought this time was a success and that everything was going to be alright but like a month later I start to notice some mild but annoying symptoms start to come back.
