Valium/Diazepam safe intake window (to avoid dependence)

Um doesnt valium stay in the body the longest out of any benzo? or at least MUCH longer than k-pins? I think V wd's are the worst of the bennies.

Oh, and i went through 180mg of xanax in 9 days before and didnt even have withdrawls, just massive rebound anxiety :)

180 mg of xanax in 9 days? That's 20 mg xanax daily...which is a 1 mg blue football every hour almost? I find that a bit extreme.
I've been taking xanax for 11 yrs & klonopins for 2 yrs, & there is no way in hell I could take a 1 mg xanax hourly & still sit-up even.
I do believe either your math or your drug [maybe valium?] is way-off, pal.:\

People seem to experience far worse withdrawals from short acting benzos (like xanax) than from long acting ones, which is why they sometimes swap to diazepam before reducing off them.

I was taking K-pins for 3 months straight, and when I noticed I was running low stepped down from 3mg to 1mg every night with a 6-pack of beer, and then .5mg with a 6-pack, then nothing, and weened myself off every night with beer. I didn't really have any withdrawls, it felt more physcological than physical.....

Klonopin half life is about 50 hrs
Xanax is about 20 hrs
Diazepam is about 200 hrs

Ive been using benzos for years, I usually take benzos 1 or 2 days of the week, but ill easily go a few weeks without taking any.... Benzos are best when used as needed... They are such a nice treat when u dont take them often..

The easy answer is to look at the half life. If you don't want your body to develop dependence on an addictive substance then you need to clear it from your system between doses. Otherwise, over time, dependent on other variables, you would eventually develop a level of physical dependence on them.

Personally I love Valium but it has such a long halflife now that I have started using it again (went through benzo w/d last year-then used benzos sporadically but not much valium) I can notice the muscle cramping a lot more after not taking any benzos for a couple of days. Some of the withdrawl symptoms seem to be coming back.

I have discovered the simplest way to avoid the muscle cramping, nausea, & general achiness of benzo or opiate withdrawal = keep doing them.
Unless you run out...then you're in deep shit.

It is extreme, but it's completely possible. I've taken up to 58mg Xanax in one sitting, and up until 18-19 bars or so I was blacked out, but up, walking, talking and acting dumb as fuck.

^Same here, recently I slipped and took my entire month supply (60mg) of Xanax over the course of a weekend. Needless to say it was very obvious to everyone I came in contact with.

That's true.
That's why you can use some benzos every two days without developing a tolerance: benzos with no metabolites, and short half-life, like triazolam and Oxazepam.
It's harder to always get the full effect if you like longer acting benzos with metabolites (diazepam, nordazepam, prazepam...): you have to take them only once a month if you want the same effect every time...

Really? How could they tell?:\ :|

I wanted to bring this thread back in to play... becuase at the begining everyone was saying you can do Diazepam for about 3 days and take off a couple days and then go again for another couple days. However, one of the last posters stated that it had a 200 hour half life (I've heard 100 hours, 300 hours, etc) and wanted to know how it's possible to do it every few days and only take off 2 days and not be addicted. Also, anyone have documentation of the actual half life?

I get anxiety somtimes and the doctor has prescribed Effexor which is also an anti-depressant... so I refuse to take it. Diazepam seemed like a better option but after hearing some of the things like 200 hour half life.. I'm not sure anymore.

For anxiety, it's better to take benzos with a long half-life...
Does a 200 hours half-life scares you?

I wouldn't worry about it, partykid, those are a nice relaxed buzz & really helps with anxiety. Doc had me on Effexor for 7 yrs & it quit working.
Then the nice doctor prescribed 20 mg Lexapro, 1/.5 mg Klonopins 3 times a day & 1/.5 xanax 2 times a day. The nice 1 relaxes me & the other doctors aren't as cool. I'd give my right-arm to be ambidextrous.

The 200 half life scares me because of addiction. I have battled addiction (well I guess it's a lifetime battle) and I dont know if Valium is right..

Body chemistry has alot to do with it, and from what I read on benzo.org.uk its harder to get addicted to longer acting benzos because your plasma levels arnt up and down or something like that.

anyway this thread caught my interest because ive just come off of using valium maybe 1.5-2 months. (all abit of a blur really lol i dont know how long)
Well i know ive gone through 200 5mg pills and 25 temazepam. I suffer with anxiety and havent had any withdrawel but i sort of meditate to relax myself. Lucky im not addicted i know, but my point is i think alot of it is body chemistry, your fitness, and your mental wellbeing.

In the name of harm reduction dont risk it, cos if i was prone to psysical addiction id be fuked right now.

yeh id have to agree cheezballz 8-10 ull be fine, maybe even up to 14 days. Depends if u have anxiety tho, if u do then 8-10 days cos ur gona feel anxous when u stop
