I recently bought some valerian root (not the capsules) online. The idea is to help me with anxiety and insomnia.
I've used the search engine but most people have the capsules, and I have a few questions which haven't been answered.
1. How should I take it? I've been making a tea from the stuff, but not actually eating the valerian in the tea, just straining it for about 15 minutes. Is this right?
2. I also read elsewhere online that it shouldn't be made with boiling water, just hot water, as boiling water may make the effect weaker. Is this right?
3. What sort of dosage? I started with around 1/2 a tablespoon, which my weighing scales said was 1g, but it may have been a bit less. Didn't seem to do anything...though I'm aware that I may find that valerian does nothing for me at any dose.
