Hello Bluelight Community,

Finally found my way to the esteemed Bluelight, which I have known about for over a decade.

Put it down to being out to lunch, perhaps permanently out to lunch in some alfresco setting out past the Oort cloud.

Either that or like the Duracell bunny with a pick-axe, I've been down my psychedelic rabbit hole, pursuing certain lines of enquiry into Consciousness.

Outer space or a deep hole or some quantum bogodynamic state betwixt.

Competently hallucinating or hallucinating competence - time will tell.

Anyway, glad to have finally made it, thanks for being here.

Best regards,

Captain Goodvibes

Thanks everyone for the greetings. :)

@junkie skumbag: When I read "DOC" I thought, what's that? Duty Of Care?, Diligence Of Caning? Deconstructor Of Consciousness? 2,5-Dimethoxy-4-chloroamphetamine?, and I thought, hmmm, well yes, D.O.C., I *do* like my phenethylamines, I have a lot of time for them, well, let's face it, you need a lot of time for them, and then the little light in the refrigerator of my mind switched on, and realised that you meant "Drug Of Choice."

Well, generally speaking, I think it's unfair to play favourites with any of God's chemical children in the Shulgin Pharmacopoeia and Apothecary, though having said that I do stand firm and true with my old steadfast friend LSD-25, and I am rather kindly disposed to DOC, DOB and DOI, both DOx and LSD work well together with Ketamine and that other stalwart friend, dinitrous oxide N2O.

Getting a bit long in the tooth, so the stimulants such as simpler amphetamines I avoid, and were never much inclined to them in the first place. I have a high regard for MDMA, when and if, it's the pure "sassafras."

I have extensive experience of the tryptamines, as I acknowledge the importance of mapping those realms, but I cannot say that I am endeared to them at all - though the innovation of "Changa" is the greatest thing in the tryptamine world, since sliced bread.

The Psychedelic fundamentals are LSD-25, the hemp herb Marijuana, Dinitrous Oxide, N20, mushrooms, those used combinatorically and in judicious manner, can be quite sufficient on their own. All the analogues and research chemicals are to be celebrated, but the efficacy of the fundamentals should not be overlooked or neglected, IMHO.

My full research "Curriculum Vitae" is extensive, but not extensive nor broad enough, since sad but true, everyone else is doing more drugs than me. :\ =D

BTB, I am not The Captain Goodvibes, merely one of his Tsunami Army of Psychedelic Avatars, or Avatards, as the case may be. ;)

Captain Goodvibes, Local Surfing Diety, was part of the explosion of Consciousness that happened in Australia in the early and mid seventies (we were about a decade behind America), there was the Whitlam Government, the sonic LSD that was Radio Station 2JJ, and the Aquarius Festival organised by the Australian Union of Students, and much else besides.

You could say that Captain Goodvibes was one of my early Teachers at that flourishing University of Diversity, of those times. %)

Welcome to BL! I can't believe I missed this thread title...I really, really love Catullus, and it caught my attention on the "new posts" page and I couldn't help but stick my dead-languages boner into this thread :) 101 is quite a sad poem though, it interesting way to make an introduction for sure.

Thanks for the erudite reflection, I was not aware of the Catullus connection!

In some regards I am always dying to my self-conception and self-regard of my competence as a psychonaut or "entheonaut" - and more often that not, not dying often enough! - and dying hard enough, at that! 8) =D

And how many times have I sworn never to do X or the combo Y at the dose Z in the context of A again, yet - goodbye and hello. :-)

I do not know any Latin, unfortunately, but would have loved to, back in the day when I was green and spotty and full of beans, I evinced great interest in learning languages like Sanskrit, Vedic, Tibetan, Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic and such - but it never came to pass.

Indeed I wish I actually knew English! - I may be a "native speaker", but my hold on it is tenuous at best, spelling is OK, punctuation tends to be out to lunch, and as for formal grammar - forget about it! - but I get by.

BTB, what would "I cane therefore I am" in Latin? ;)

Ah, I think of Catullus before anything else! I've studied Latin for about 6 years, and some Ancient Greek (Attic) in there as well. Later on I did some general Indo-European linguistics, but other than a few words in Proto-IE or Sanskrit I didn't retain much of that. And...shhh...I keep Facebook in Latin too %)

goodbye and hello - Vale et salve...if it's singular, valete et salvete if plural (the v's are pronounced as w's)

What exactly do you mean by "cane"? Like, to beat something? The classic Descartes "I think therefore I am" is "Cogito ergo sum." You would just need to find the present first person singular and you can insert any verb in the place of "cogito." "Ergo sum," which means "therefore I am" would remain the same. I can't think of a verb off-hand that would have "beat" as a meaning, if that's what you mean by it?

FB in Latin - very good!

"Cane" in Australian usage I suppose is derived from "beat with a cane" - ie hard and frequently (we are a nation 1.1 founded from convicts, two hundred years ago, nation 1.0 before that was about 40,000 years old)

If you toked DMT three times a day, seven days a week, for three months solid, then you could be said to have "caned it".

If you go through an entire rack (shrink-wrapped six boxes of ten) cream-chargers (whippets, bulbs) in the space of half an hour, you could be said to have "caned it" - and caned it "hard to the core".

Worked your way systematically 0-9,A-Z through the Shulgin Pharmacopeia? - you are a " Canemaster" candidate.

"Sensei Canemaster" would be the highest accolade. %)

Though "caning it" is not always the same as doing thing to excess needlessly.

Hmm, I'm not sure exactly what Latin verb I'd use to be equivalent to that in meaning...I'm American so I didn't even know 'cane' could have that use, in reference to drugs anyway. In terms of Catullus, look at translations/sound recordings (that link you posted is pretty cool) of 5 (which is really cute, actually) and 16 (which is extremely dirty, hehe). Catullus' poems all have numbers associated with them, and their "names" are often cited as just the first line...as far as we know, he didn't title them.

Judging by your posts, I think you should check out Psychedelic Drugs and the Philosophy&Spirituality forums here at BL, I think you'll find lots of like minded folk to chat with.
