vacation in NYC

When I went to NYC I enjoyed the WWF (now WWE) restaraunt...definitely go to Tarvern on the Green, make reservations before you get to NYC, I also visited the new york stock exchange it was halfway interesting and ellis island was pretty cool as well.
 
sorry but if im goin to NYC the wwf resturant is something im going to most likely pass on...
 
tavern on the green is closed they went bankrupt. auctioned off all their stuff right after new years
 
visiting nyc

occasionally i find myself in nyc with a day or two to kill, and this beautiful monday is one of those days. what are some things i should check out? preferably off the beaten path, as i've already been to most of the major museums and tourist destinations plenty of times, but if there's a particularly interesting exhibit or event going on i'm all ears. obviously, this being bluelight, i'm open to drug oriented locations (not sources, more like psychedlic art), but anything worthwhile is worth mentioning. cheaper is better but i do have some money to spend. WHAT HAVE YOU?

i realize this has been done before but i'm specifically looking for things to do RIGHT NOW.

There's this cool walking park(obviously not as big as central park) that's built on an old railline right above the streets it's designed really cool. We went there last summer but I cant remember its name. It's like a bridge over the streets but it's got flowers trees grass etc it's nothing special but great to see in the middle of a huge city just hanging in the air.
 
At the Hayden Planetarium a couple of nights a week they have a phenominal laser light show synced to Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. Something I would really look into...

Good suggestion. I haven't seen this show in over 10 years but it was very cool and great to see while fucked up.
 
now that the day in question has passed, i'm going to merge this with our existing vacation in nyc thread. feel free to continue posting suggestions there.
