Do you smoke concentrates (BHO/ethanol oils; wax, shatter, crumble, etc...) or flowers/buds?

Personally, for concentrates, vape pens are the absolute most economical way to smoke cannabis. You can smoke on a gram for a week and stay high. Yes the gram costs 3x what bud does but it lasts 7-10x longer (and the price isn't always so great). You can also make your own and it's healthier to use (feels that way, plus you're extracting all the plant matter, tar, etc). I find this is the best way for medicating as well, since I can chill on a dab for a while, rather than taking the whole thing at once.
If you smoke flowers then I'll have to agree with everyone else in saying you'll just be disappointed from a portable vape. You need a bigger chamber and a stronger/larger heating element to properly vaporizer flowers without combusting them.
 
From what i've heard about vapourizers, the high is quite different, even with volcanos and that. Possibly because it doesn't vaporize all the different cannabanoids etc, but it provides a nice mellow high , and is also pretty economical in the sense that most people report that you can smoke the weed after its been vaped and still get a bit of a hit

My marmite, cheese, weed & butter toasties are famours round these parts though, taste amazing!
 
Storz und Bickel, the people who make the Volcano, also do a cheaper model.
The Plenty(still around £250), looks a bit like a Black and Decker drill.
I've got both it and the Volcano, and the Plenty gives just as good a hit as the Volcano.

It doesn't have a fan/air pump, you draw air through manually (lungually?) through a metal cooling tube.

I much prefer this as it is silent late at night, slightly quicker to heat up, and fairly portable.

And most importantly I don't get grief from my friends girlfriend for looking like a gluesniffer.
It really freaks her out when we're sitting round sucking from bags.
 
I make a mean cannabis chocolate milk for those cold winter nights. A nug gently boiled in milk is like warm blanket wrapped in front of a fire.

Mixed returns then, I see! It might happy me, it might not. Spending 25 quid on something that unhappys me is unhappying! Lol But I'll reserve judgement until I try it out.

I don't get on with eating it. I feel, especially with sativa weeds that the trip is closer to a psychedelic experience, which I'll have with a psychedelic if I'm going for that sort of hit. Anxiety seems very pronounced on eaten weed & hash so I don't do that anymore. I made a tea with loads of left over sticks one time a few months ago, but didn't enjoy the effect even though it was quite mild. I stole the sticks off my gf, I normally give them to her, she sticks them in chamomile tea for when the monthlies are being a pain. Active constituents are obviously minimal, but she swears that they help. The sticks actually taste quite nice in a herbal tea, though, even for someone who doesn't like herbal tea, like me!

It's here. I had a pair of headphones on & didn't hear the bell. Luckilly the alarm-cat went off, she hates the door bell & shot off under the bed! She always lets me know when someones at the door Lol

I havent opened it yet, just need my bitch to come round with some fine sativa & we're go for lift off... or not, perhaps... Three days off will have plummeted my tolerance so, let's see what happens. Stay tuned!

Longest I've gone without weed was 10 days, I'm 45 years old & have smoked daily since I was 18. I don't smoke tobacco at all, ever. Actually, I once ground an E onto some tobacco in a bong coz I had no hash. & I once smoked a fag in a nite-club back in 1987. Other than the only tobacco I've endured was second-hand, both my parents smoked like fuck & I lost 'em at least ten years early, through differing tobacco related illness. My dad had a series of strokes & my mum got COPD & died of a chest infection in hospital. By 50, my mum had lost all her teeth. My teeth are a bit fucked, apparently because I've used salbutamol all my life for asthma... but I do still have them!

Could one vape, for example, DMT in one of these things? What, apart from MDPV (never again!), else could I use it for it I can't get stoned from it?

Come on woman, I am too un-stoned to relax, get your fine ass round with my freaking herb ;) Got some cleaning done, what a lovely bright side to not being stoned. Truly wonderful. I'd rather be wasted, lazily surrounded by dust & crap, personally!

I use TABlites, the £20 starter pack, with the wicks at the top. Im saving tons of money compared to buying tobacco. To save even more i buy the maximum strength liquids and dilute them with MPG by about 25% and this makes each 10ml bottle last about a day longer for pennies. If you keep the atomiser brimfull and keep moistening the wicks they last for days on end rather than a few hours. Im hoping eventually to start weening down the strengths still further. Maybe one day stop all together.

SHM you are right in saying that its easy to stop smoking once you get your mind set to it and fully commit. The cravings only last a few minutes and are done with within 2 days. But ive allways returned, i think i can safely say that im never going to smoke a tobacco cigarette again now though. The ecigs taste so much nicer and fresher. I found that tobacco definatey increased my stress rather than relieving it and im so much calmer when i dont smoke, and i take a proper interest in food again, smoking/even vapeing nicotine blunts my appetite.

If you want to save your lungs cannabis cookery is the best option, ive never tried it that way. I guy i knew said the effects felt much more trippy and much stronger eating it compared to smoking. Mind you he did eat a whole eighth.

Si I would imagine that noid powders would vape just fine in these things without needing variable voltage. If nicotine comes in powder form (does it ?) then i suppose you could genuinely do what you have to do to get the "advanced level drugs" on certain sites, in that you are interesten in studying the various combustion voltage requirements of different compounds. Id never thought of trying MDPV in one of these things, i dont think I'll bother though, I think PV is something thats shown me what it can do, and i dont need to see any more. Where would it stop though, you could try vapeing every single powder on the market, etaqualone, ethylphenidate, ah7921 ? I wonder if you could vape poppy pod tea. 8(

Hi all, lurker here, I gave up the baccy about 18 months or so ago but still love my weed, I tried vapes, well a magic flight launch box anyway & was not impressed, seemed a bit of a shit hit compared to my normal method of smoking which is a brass pipe very similar to a bud bomb called red eye by amazed. I've had & lost loads of them over the years they are a pretty good pipe I reckon, they make them in brass, aluminium & Steel. I know vaping is better for you but I still need to feel the pain of proper smoke hitting the back of my throat & although the MFLB looks pretty it just doesn't work right, fucking batteries suck too, I must admit I wouldn't mind a volcano tho
 
I have returned to say, after a bit of fiddling about with it, & sometimes flawed attempts to make sense of the manual, I have got the little vape working, & I like it. I can't be certain that it's gonna save me money, but it certainly works. I'm using a bit of nice Sativa in there in the mornings, & a rather strong Indica in there at night. I need to pack the ceramic space quite well to make it vaporise properly, which means perhaps using a little too much Indica, but the Sativa dose is about right. I get three or four lungfulls from each fill, & I have to "stir" the herb around so that unburnt bits get up against the hot bit. The hit seems no different from a bong hit of weed, which is different from herb in a joint. I'm not certain it's going to replace joints for me, I do like a little spliff of pure herb, but it works & I like it.

This vaporiser is actually for DRY herb, & shouldn't be used with any sort of liquid. Seeing that many vapes are for nicotine liquids, it might be that those that vaporise liquids are unsuitable for herbs & that might be why some people don't get along with them or feel that they don't work...
 
Theres a youtube clip of a bloke who invented a vapouriser lighter, (sorry dont know how to post links) it seems to work for real, ie it really vapes the herb without burning it at all. Probably got it patented up the ass though.
 
Bumping an ancient thread, unless anyone knows of a newer one? Maybe tech has moved on in the last 12 months or so...

Basically I'm trying to be good and having a week or two off smoking spliffs before my surgery. I don't really smoke cigarettes anymore but still prefer spliffs with tobacco as my ROA of choice for weed. I have a few nice glass pipes, and was hoping that switching to them rather than spliffs would mean less harshness on the lungs, but they basically feel like they're raping my lungs just as badly as a spliff.

So I'm thinking about switching to a vaporiser, both for before the op and as a long term solution after the surgery. My only experience of them is using someone's Volcano at uni nearly 10 years ago now, thought it was awesome as most people on this thread seem to agree. So that seems like the obvious choice but if there is something which works as well and is portable / even vaguely discreet (which the Volcano clearly isn't), I think that'd be a better option for me. Now I don't have an issue with the price and I will pay £3-400 for something which really works, but if I'm spending that much I'd like to be sure it really does.

So I guess my question is, any decent portable-ish vaporisers about these days? I'm looking on that site (which I guess I can't mention here, although I don't think they sell legal highs anymore) which I'm sure you all know, because it sells aaaall the pipes and bongs and thing. There are loads of portable ones but it's hard to find one that actually reviews well and isn't just a battery powered pipe which burns your weed, but not very well...
 
The cheapest ones just don't work at all. There are a few better ones that are getting cheaper, coming from Chinese e-cig manufacturers, but not the ones that look like a normal e-cig.

The absolute cheapest one that might work is the "hebe titan 2", it's around £40 on ebay. I got a flowermate v5, that's pretty good for £60, tastes great, battery lasts long enough, it's battery powered & pocket sized - it's not quite as powerful as a mains powered vape, but it's much better than smoking. It could maybe pass for a large battery modded e-cig or something.

Storz & bickel are the top vaporizer manufacturers (makers of the volcano) & you still need to go with them if you want something that will really blow you away. I got a "plenty" for just over £100 second hand, they're £200 new, it's the best thing ever, got me more stoned than anything else in the world ever has, but it needs mains power. It's portable enough to easily put it in a bag & take it to some friend's house to use, no worries about breaking delicate parts & it's a handheld unit, but you're going to need a power source to use it. It looks like a power tool.

I'm loyal to the MFLB. It doesn't burn your weed (unless you're inexperienced in using it, or just a fucking idiot), it's well-constructed from sustainable materials, lifetime guarantee, etc.

Okay, batteries are awkward, but strip a few down, keep 'em charged and it's not much of a hassle.

I started using mine again yesterday after lapsing for a while, and I feel so much better today.

Do you have any experience with the Crafty (or maybe even the Mighty) portable vaporisers by Storz and Bickel? They're the sort of size I was thinking of, and if they're as well made as the Volcano, I'm thinking they could be a good idea?

Other plausible options appear to be the Ascent by DaVinci, or the Firefly (which only seems to be available across the pond, can't find a UK supplier for it).

I've just got the Flowermate V5 & the Plenty. The Crafty & Mighty seem pricey and have limited battery life or a large size. No doubt they'll get you stoned & be well made, but they don't look worth the money to me, they can't really be as powerful as a plenty either. The Flowermate isn't bad at all, seems to compare well with those others you listed & it's half the price. The plenty is a real tool.
