Opioids Using while on Methadone Maintenance Therapy And Withdrawals Because of it.

Okay I was thinking about Using Once a Week 36 Hours After My Last Methadone Dose. I Never Pee Dirty this way but I am Not Entirely Sure that Me using Hydromorphone,Oxycodone Once Every 7 Days is Not Effecting Me Someway Somehow Due to Withdrawals from Once a Week Use. I have Read and KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE that USING Anything ON TOP/With Methadone Maintenance Causes Withdrawal Due to your Body being Used to the Methadone Daily Yet getting a Nice Dose and than Using Nothing But the Methadone you Use Everyday Causes Withdrawal OR AT LEAST SOME KIND OF A FEELING OF UNCOMFORTABLENESS.




My Question is if I Use ONLY ONCE A WEEK 36 Hours After My Last Methadone Dose to Catch a Buzz.... Will this cause Not just Physical Withdrawal Symptoms I'm Worried About But Can it cause Me to Feel Psychological Withdrawal Symptom Problems Such as Irritability and Insomnia, Lethargy or Over All just the Plain Old Feeling of Exhaustion?
 
It can definitely cause psychological withdrawals. Just like anything pleasurable is psychological addictive. Do yourself a favor and increase your methadone dose to a dose that holds you and decreases your cravings, better yet a dose that blocks opiates, so you won't be as tempted. You really need to analyze why you are on methadone in the first place. If you are serious about getting clean then don't use on top of your methadone (no-brainer but I know it can be hard). If you are still trying to get high then you should probably stop the methadone because you are only messing with your tolerance and adding something that is much more physically addictive than heroin or other opiates. At a high dose of methadone, you'll need massive doses of other opioids to catch a buzz, and even then it is not really euphoric.(Speakibg from experience)

Everyone says to "up dose" but if you're already at 100mg, going up to 120 isn't going to magically fix you're psychological issues, nor will it necessarily provide any significant blockade. It is the massive tolerance that blocks the EUPHORIA from other opioids, methadone itself doesn't really have a high enough binding affinity to reliably block opioids the way that buprenorphine does.

Remember, a conservative estimate say's hydromorphone's binding affinity is 4x higher than done's.

Once a week use is fine, but will that sustain you psychologically? I have insomnia, and a single methadone dose a day eventually wasn't enough for sleep. I dealt with it at first, but then working 6 days a week, I began using, (only) at night, to sleep again(I was used to having IV opioids whenever I wanted/needed to sleep). That runes into weekend use, and yes, the WD we're even worse, and it jacked my tolerance even further.

So just be careful and decide if this is a right decision... IDK you're dose, but perhaps a higher one would be preferable to using again, though in my experience the body adjusts to any dose, and ultimately that psychological need to use will manifest yet again.
(Also keep in mind, a clinic won't just jack you're dose up for you, they do it gradually, giving your mind time to adjust, which isn't conducive to our purposes.
 
I Agree with all this and I Am Currently on 85MG and Steadily Climbing. But I just Simply Need to Use for Any Excuse you Can Name ONCE IN AWHILE I just Will Not And Feel I Can Not Quit Feeling that Buzz Completely Forever and for Good Why would I Do that.... I Used to Only Use Once A Month for Years until I Met A Slut Short-Story And My Best Friend just Stopped Talking to Me.




LONG-STORY SHORT! I Use Methadone because I Am On Social Assistance and Trying to get on Disability so the Methadone is Free and Saves Me the Money of Buying Hydromorphone and Oxycodone Prescriptions from people.
 
I got Mild OCD I Do A Lot More Fucked Up Things then just Typing Weird.... But that is as Serious as it gets.
