So I hope someone can give me a straight answer from experience... I will be finished with my heroin detox in a few days, I used suboxone for the first time after I was addicted to opiates, so I never got "high" from it. I was wondering, theoretically I should be able to see or test if I was finished by taking the sub and seeing if I get high from it. How long does it take for this to be true? Is it true? Your ideas?

Yes, theoretically, however that doesn't make it reality. I wouldn't risk a relapse man.

But how long once your done fully kicking will I get "high" from the sub. You don't believe i will be able to ?

If you are already entertaining getting high, this soon after your heroin detox, then re-lapse is probably inevitable. For the sake of the question a couple of weeks opiate free should let your tolerance decrease enough to get high off of weaker opiods. Obviously this is not smart what so ever and in MY personal experience, every time I did exactly what you plan on doing I ended up back on dope within a week. Since you already were dependent on opiates, and have no detoxed, using only once or twice will potentialy throw you back into withdrawals once you cease using again.

Not worth it.

The ceiling for buprenorphine mu agonism is equivalent to 30mg methadone (this is around 2-4mg of bupe) so if you could get high off 30mg methadone you'd likely be able to get high off buprenorphine.

Without knowing your heroin doses, length of use and other factors, it's impossible to even guess if you could get high of bupe but either way, its a different feeling as a partial agonist and you may or may not enjoy it.

As others have said, its not a good idea to try to get high right after you detoxed - more likely than being satisfied with the high, you'll just be teased because its not the real thing and it'll make you crave the real thing even more. If you want to get away from heroin, stay away from opioids. If you have tried to detox many times and can't, you may want to consider maintenance medication but I'm guessing that's not where you're at.

*Choo Choo* welcome to the relapse train.

If you're planning on using only bupe to get "a little high" and make your sobriety "a little easier", then realize you are walking down a very, very well traveled path.

It always results in relapse - or bupe addiction.

I'd rather get off dope than dupe. Dope is much worse for the first five days, but after that bupe takes the cake. It lasts weeks!
