Using Phenazepam strictly to manage opiate withdrawal

First of all, I am well aware of the horror stories involving phenazepam and reckless dosing, blackouts, and various crazy shit. I understand how potent this chemical is and how long the half-life is. I'm not using this chemical to get high with or to catch a buzz, I really want to try and use it to make unbearable opiate withdrawal symptoms more tolerable.

I've been hooked on pods for a long time - 18 months with only 3 considerable breaks never lasting longer than 2 weeks. The withdrawals I experience are pretty brutal to me, maybe they're nothing like IV heroin but they are quite awful to endure cold turkey. I start to get restless after 24 - 36 hours since my last dose, and the 48 hour mark makes any type of sleeping/relaxation completely impossible. My heartrate goes up, my blood pressure feels out of wack, and it's like I can't relax OR be very active This goes on for days and it makes CT withdrawals very undesirable. The last time I went 48 hours w/out a dose I started to get RLS when I tried to sleep and I always taper now because going longer than 48 hours w/out dosing is essentially unfathomable for me.

I have practically no experience with benzos and *some* experience with GHB/GBL/BDO. I took 2 xanax pills one time several years ago and that's it for benzo experience. As I recall I "felt something" for about 30 minutes then promptly fell asleep for a couple of hours. If phenazepam effects me anything like this, I think that would be highly desirable for managing withdrawals. I've used BDO as a sleep aid during withdrawal, but the inevitable rebound insomnia of GHB and friends always has me feeling terrible when I come down back to the opiate withdrawal.

So my question is to those of you who use (or have used) benzos for ope withdrawal, are they really helpful? Will it make sleeping possible and help me to chill out and relax a little bit when normally I would be thrashing about and experiencing considerable mental suffering? For those of you that have used benzos for relief, how much did you take and what withdrawal symptoms are relieved? Are there any that badly persisted even with benzos? And lastly, has anyone used phenazepam specifically for this pupose?

Opiate withdrawal makes me extremely antisocial and I don't think that I'm going to want to leave the house, provided that I don't blackout on the phenazepam. I plan to stick to very small recommended dosages (.5 - 1mg) and see how well it relieves my suffering. I know a lot of people seem to think they're not feeling much and compusively redose, but like I said I have ZERO benzo tolerance/experience so I really doubt like hell that I won't feel it at all. I cannot stress enough that I'm not trying to get high, I'm trying to use this as safely as possible and will be measuring out my dosages and avoiding foolish dosing. I have off from work for the next 2 days and hope that by Friday morning I will have made it 72 hours w/out a dose of poppy tea, then I can take a tiny dose before work to make me functional. Whatever the case, I won't be going into work deep in opiate withdrawal and using a benzo, sounds like a fucking recipe for disaster.

Okay I think that's it. I know that this won't be a magical bullet to cure my addiction, I just want to know how much relief one can get from the withdrawals. Thanks in advance!

Benzos are helpful for opiate withdrawal, but only to a certain degree. I only got maybe 5% of the relief I get out of them now when I was in acute heroin WD. With a low/medium opiate tolerance, benzos are more effective. With no opiate tolerance, benzos are very efficient for the last few minor WD symptoms.

It just depends on what your opiate habit was like.

Plus, some benzos are way better than others.

I would not recommend this, but in my experience the one time I successfully made it through heroin withdrawals cold turkey, I bought a bunch of 2mg Klonopins. I didn't intentionally black out but I did end up blacking out for quite a few days, and made it through the acute withdrawals without remembering much of it, haha. It's not the safest thing to do obviously but if used responsibly, benzos can ease the withdrawal symptoms but they obviously will not cure them like a dose of opiates would. Just be sure to keep your dosage in check.

I have no experience with phenazepam, but I hear it takes a while to kick in, and its amnesiac effects are pretty strong, so just be very careful when you dose. If you have powdered phenazepam, do you have a mg scale to accurately measure? How are you going about dosing? You need to be very very careful.

I plan on starting out with a .5mg dose, possibly increasing the dose slightly if it doesn't relieve my suffering. I will be dissolving 100mg into a 100ml solution for relative ease of dosing. I will not be redosing very often, maybe only twice per day. I read somewhere that it may have up to a 60 hour half life. The absolute last thing that I want to happen is for me to become ultra intoxicated and wander into work in such a state.

Thanks for the info guys.

That's probably what I should have done. I used to be a safe and frequent consumer of poppy pods and only ever problem that I've had is addiction. I used 1,4 BDO a handful of times but never had any problems there.

I buy a small amount of phenazemam and find that I am A) Either already dependent after a week OR at the very least craving it (and might I add find benzos almost as if not more attractive than benzos, B) Had to be taken to the hospital after falling down the steps on a high dose, and C) Left my house while fighting with my mom high on phenazepam and 1,4 BDO. I drive off the road, get stuck, try to get out for a while realizing how fucked I am, and wake up about 20 minutes later to a stranger offering to take me home and telling me to report my car stolen.

My relationship with my parents has been devastated and never before have I ever made more destructive decisions in my life. If I weren't nodding off so hard I would probably be writing a thread about this shit in the Dark Side.

I took all precautions and shit still got ugly fast. I'll have to report back when I get some sense back, I still can't believe all this shit happened. I think I'm lucky I didn't kill someone when I drove off the road, *sigh* what a fucking mess. I wish I had some weed, just one fucking hit right now.

The amnesia is not recommended when you are in WDs. I had this happen a few times to me. I would take few benzos (usually diazepam), then after 2h I would take some more, then some more until I take them all. At one point I would go score some H since my inhibitions are lowered to a point I don't remember why I am kicking ...

They can help though, but make sure you measure your dosage right, take small amounts and don't expect them to cut all symptoms.

Gosh but I do agree with you, opiate WDs suck hard.

In my experience though, benzos weren't a lot of help, although they did offer some relief.

Mainly, the first day of no-dosing for me the edginess is bad. I'm prescribed Xanax for anxiety attacks but I hardly use it, don't take it unless I need it, so as a result usually have a lot on hand. So that first day, the benzos def help take the edge off, hells yeah. And that first night, they help me sleep some. After that though, once full-tilt WDS kick in, they don't do much for me.

One night, on day 2 or 3 of WD (don't recall exactly) I was so desperate to sleep and kill the night, you know, I took 2 Xannies at bed time. I'm on a low dose (.5) but where I hardly use it, half a pill will usually do me fine. This time however, nada. A coupe hours later I took 2 more. I did manage to doze a bit, but before long I was tossing left and right and left and right so I took 2 more. I basically did this throughout the night: every time I came fully awake, tossing and turning, I took two more. By the morning, I was throwing up orange foam. Bitter, bitter stomach ON TOP of the WDs.

Lovely.

So the moral of this story is, for me, anyway: on day 1 of WDs benzos are the most useful. After that, their usefulness is totally negligible. PLEASE NOTE: Oven times may vary.

This is basically what happened to me. Before I knew it had been like 6 days and I hadn't made even a tad of poppy tea. I got into all kinds of other trouble though so it was kind of a win-lose. And besides, I'm still using the poppy tea again (surprise surprise!). I was basically a zombie for several days straight 8) and now the cat is out of the bag at home - my parents know that I am hooked on poppies and want me off. They're willing to do anything to help me but I have real pain issues and in my heart and soul I still don't want to quit. Shit sucks :p

first of all you could try to taper the pods a bit... reducing the dosage every 2 or 3 days a bit...

and concerning phenazepam, its an extremely powerfull hypnotic (you MUST have a 0.001 scale), so it will be great for sleep, but not for use during the day... you could always ask your doctor, say you're going through opiate W/D, and ask him if he can prescribe you maybe some clonazepam or diazepam for the anxiety during the day, if he refuses, ask for hydroxyzine, that helps with anxiety, and is not addictive so most docs dont mind prescribing it.

also you will want to get some immodium for the shits... that helps.. drink lots of fluids, andd try to keep yourself busy.

I wish you the best of luck!

i got 500mg of phenzepam about 1month a month an ago an dosed it into caps of 2mg each. i prefer it others because its really cheap. but it is a pain getting such a small dose into a capsule.

I also got liquid phenzepam since they were avalible for colection purposes as i thought they were cool to have. they were 5ml/1mg to 1ml mix. If you are just starting i would sugest getting liquid to avoide overdosing if u dnt have scales.

its good stuff to have on hand for emergencys!!

psyko!
