Using other drugs on Prozac

A friend of mine is being prescribed Prozac, to ensure her safety and well being I am curious as to what it can affect if you are a regular user of all sorts of drugs. As far as I know it is an SSRI and so it can weaken the effects of MDMA.

My question is what are the do's and don't's on Prozac, is there anything she cannot take on Prozac, what will be weakened/intensified by Prozac? My friend is a regular user of drugs in general, all kinds of drugs, from psychedelics to stimulants, so we want to cover EVERY situation to ensure her safety.

Also can anyone with personal experience let me know how effective Prozac is in countering depression? Does anyone have any advice on being on the stuff? Will it affect anything such as behaviour or cause mood swings?

Prozac is a potent inhibitor of CYP2D6 and CYP3A4.

Taking Xanax (for example) with Prozac will increase plasma levels of Xanax as well as decrease Xanax clearance from the body (Xanax is a CYP3A4 substrate).

Don't even bother with MDMA when taking an SSRI. SSRI's weaken the effects of MDMA a LOT, to the point where it's just not worth taking.

SSRI's also decrease the potency of LSD. You'll still definitely feel effects from doing acid on SSRIs, but the effects will be notably less. The duration of the effects of LSD will also be shorter than they would be if you weren't on an SSRI.

I'm nearly certain those are the only two drugs that have a different effect on someone taking an SSRI than they have on somebody not on an SSRI; I've been on Zoloft [very similiar to Prozac] for 10 years & done pretty much every drug while on it, & I'm pretty damn sure every other drug effected me just the same as it would if I wasn't on Zoloft.

As for the effectiveness of Prozac on Depression, it's definitely one of the best Anti-Depressants out there. If you have any bipolar tendencys at all, though, you'll really want to pay close attention to the effects Prozac has on you to make sure it's not making you manic. Even if you don't have Bipolar, Prozac can still possibly make you manic, & if it does, it's really important that you tell your doctor & start getting off of it ASAP.

Thanks this is exactly what I was looking for!

So there is no dangerous mixes with an SSRI and any other drugs, it will just weaken the effects?
Also, does this mean that Prozac could be used to cancel out an LSD trip, or more so weaken the effects if say someone was having a bad trip?
