Using Opiates and Building Muscle

I used a couple other peptides that sort of mimic'ed HGH to a degree and got GREAT sleep. In fact, if I overdid the dosing (which is quite tiny) I would sleep all night and all day the next day. Unless my understanding of the science is wrong, muscle is repaired/grows while we are in the deep stages of sleep. REM sleep, delta sleep, whatever.

Drugs and sleep can be tricky. My understanding is minimal with no scientific background but I believe that some drugs will basically keep you asleep (or 'knocked out' might be a better way to describe it) but you may not actually be getting quality deep stage rejuvinative sleep. BB'ers back in the day used to use ghb a lot when it was OTC. I'm not sure if a connection between the degree of quality sleep one can get on GHB was understood as the rationale back then but doesn't ghb promote deep stage rem sleep?

GHB's growth hormone effects work best while on cycle and at such a high dose that it knocks the person out. At doses over 3-4grams you will probably not be able to be awoken until your body has metabolized most of it 3 hours later. But don't worry, it's nearly impossible to die on GHB alone due to its short half life and oxygen conserving effects.

For a person off cycle, I would say GHB's main BBing use is that it's a non-stimulant fat burner and conserves muscle mass extremely well. Otherwise it can help relax muscles and dilate the circulatory system which aids in blood/oxygen flow to muscles. It also aids in protein synthesis. Anyone that says GHB has no body building benefits is full of shit in my opinion. It's still being used today as a corner stone supplement by plenty of aspiring BBers. Can't get drug tested for it, so it's great to use leading up to a competition.

It's just about the most perfect recovery tool around minus a few small negative effects.

I know it's an old thread but I wanted to say, very inspiring quote from Voxide. Good stuff.

In almost the two years I've been off of Suboxone I've been able to get my BF% down to around 10-12% and put on a grip of muscle. I still trained when I was on Suboxone although it was half assed and I was eating like shit. Not to mention I was a fuckin depression case and put on 60 lbs of FAT when I was on suboxone maintenance. 2 months after I was finally off that garbage I started training hard, seeing results and just kept pushing, now I'm at the best place I've ever been in my life.

Unfortunately I have spinal stenosis and 2 herniated discs, one was operated on in 2010, so I can't go heavy on Squats/Deads . I still do them though, just lighter weight and more reps on legs day. I gotta say I'd rather be a slave to the gym than be a slave to a pill.

Unless you have a serious injury and are taking pain meds as prescribed (I've been posting here under various names since the year 2000 and frankly people like that are few and far between no offense) , opiates have no place in the gym.
 
The only way one can build muscle on opiates is if you are using them strictly as prescribed. Using them recreationally is only going to lead to injuries and withdrawal will ensure your gains vanish. Not only that being high all the time destroys all motivation, you are content just being in that state and you only concern is your next fix.

When I first got on Methadone I gained a lot of fat, luckily my girlfriend at the time pointed it out in rather playful manner that motivated me. One day in January, a year after being on the program she turned around and said "Hey I'm going to start going to gym, we should see who is more ripped by June. I bet I will be." Well, I took this as a challenge and dieted and worked my ass off at home on my equipment. That summer I looked fucking incredible, nobody could believe how I managed to go from skinny fat to built.
